Yep no easy way . I used 3 different wrenchs ,did remove bracket on driver side cause it cut me good ! Does help to soak the crap out of it with PB blaster since you're taking it out ! Once you break it loose pretty smooth. Goggle search a/f sensor dyi tons of em

You guys are killing me.....I was just looking at this yesterday and thought using a box end wrench going through the fender was the way to go. Mine has popped P0430 at least twice now and my truck is at about 140K. So....do I do sensors, cats, or will it require both?
Any suggestions for good deals on the sensors? I'd like to stick with the Densos (prefer OEM parts when possible). I've got an OBDII scanner on order and I plan to do a bit more research and testing before I start replacing parts.
My fuel mileage has slowly been creeping down. I'm running 255/75R17 tires so that makes a bit if difference but I'm lucky most tanks to break 17mpg. Anyone else seen a drop in mileage as one of the big signs for swapping sensors?

I got two from ebay, 84.00 each. Genuine Denso, however I think the one I replaced on drivers side is bad. p0031 code, Zero point calibration won't clear.

I got the Denso ones from Rock Auto. About $120 for the front one, and ~$40 for the rear one. Given how hard that front one is to replace, I didn't want to cut any corners on the replacement part.
P0031 means the af sensor heater circuit is not working correctly. I'd troubleshoot the connections and make sure you're getting 12V on the heater power terminal, and that the ground side truly goes to ground.
Zero point calibration has nothing to do with it. The VSC lights will come on any time the CEL is lit, because the computer can't properly execute the VSC alogrithm if the engine is not running properly.

Buy a proper O2 sensor socket. I find my long flex head 3/8" ratchet works perfect for this so you may consider getting one. I would also try applying some penetrating oil but only to the threads of the AF sensor. From underneath the vehicle, remove the exhaust bracket, unplug the AF sensor and slip the socket over it, remove AF sensor. I don't recall using any extensions and I can get both AF sensors out from underneath the vehicle.

Ok It was my understanding that bank 1 was drivers side. My bad. after replacing the sensor twice, then putting the old one in and replacing passenger side, p0031 code went away. lesson learned.
