Urban Runner radio

Sorry to bump. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on my feedback through the 12V.

well im not sure to be honest, i have not dealt w. XM, but from my car stereo install days, usually a high pitch was caused from wires crossing such as a power crossing an RCA cable. which can be cured by a heavily shielded wires or of course running the wires on opposite sides of the car. but in this case i am not sure what would cause that. is it just when you have a charger plugged in? is that whats being plugged in to the 12v
 
Yes, the XM charger is plugged in to the 12v. I has the same setup in my frontier and didn't have a problem. You can hear the feedback stop as soon as you unplug the charger before the XM shuts off. In addition to that, if I am sitting in park and hit the gas pedal I can hear the feedback get louder with the engine revolutions.
 
if it whines louder with the accelerating its some sort of engine noise. but i am not sure on how to fix that noise w/ xm. if you had another charger you could try further away that could help narrow down. and if didnt do in other car then doenst sound like its the charger itself?

also, i have seen people ask about not getting the manual. It is not the manual that comes with the TOMTOM, that is pretty much useless. There is another manual that comes from Toyota that is specifically for the radio......look in your glove box. It says, Audio & Navigation System Owners Manual and has a picture of the radio on it

I called you out because you called them "fools".

Simply as your FIRST post, there's no need to address any one that way. You just stated that not everyone received their manuals, how would they check it if they're one of the owners that didn't get the manual?

If you have a problem with it, take it up with me over PM.

i never stated that not everyone got their manual. Albeit it might a possibility that some did not get the manual, it think it is unlikely. If you think the word "fool" used how i did was taken derogatory then i cant do much about that. I gave good information and hopefully it was used to help at least one of these "fools" out....

So yes, it was my first post and i spoke to people like i would my friends.......the only reason i signed up was to help point people in the right direction on an issue i've already faced......

Did any one finally got the Ipod / USB working by whatever means on this head unit?

please help...
 
Yes! You need to buy an Eclipse IPC-107p adapter cable. They are getting hard to find though as this head unit was discontinued. I bought one on Amazon.com awhile ago, but they don't seem to have any listed at the moment. Then what you need to do is plug it into the back of the head unit and route the cable to the console. It takes about 30 minutes tops. I didn't feel like splicing the two wires that will charge the iPod/iPhone, but that doesn't really bother me. yep. replaced the unit.

i had decent luck with the USASpec iPod connector. its not great but not bad either. its been so long since i had the unit in i dont remember much about it. but the USB thing worked fine for me....until i turned the car off
 
The usb port always works. Used it for my ipod and iphone. The aux port in the console has to be turned on in the head unit before it will work. Just follow the instructions listed earlier in this thread.
 
I got mine on Ebay for $10, you may be able to find it through Ebay, but as stated it is getting tougher. You do have to realize that the unit will allow you to control the IPod, but it is only up to a certain generation. It is the same for the charging as well. It is due to the fact that Apple had changed their hardware configuration over the different generations of the unit. There is a 3rd party company that makes a converter that allows you to charge later generations of the IPod.
 
Reviving an ancient thread!!!

Does anyone know if the Urban Runner's Eclipse/TomTom unit can be used in a 4th gen with the JBL Synthesis system?

I’m pretty sure the urban runner radio uses a completely different wire connector than JBL and non JBL 4Runners. Meaning, you either need to get an adaptor, which might exist, or make an adaptor if you can find the wiring diagram. I don’t believe it’s plug and play, however.
