URD MAF Sensor Calibrator

The URD MAF plug n play calibrator finally went on tonight.. easy as 2 plugs (the clean ones in my dusty engine pics, 1st on MAF and 2nd on spark). Main unit was zio tied in place and a few other zip ties to clean up the cables..

Instructions didn't say anything about resetting the ECU or unplugging the battery, so off I went for a test drive.. wow! The pickup and go in that midrange was enough to justify this.. didn't even care to try WOT (yet :) ). The truck basically feels like stock lightness with a sprinkle of better response even though I'm on 285s and full SSO rear steel bumper

If this thing keeps working the way it does without giving me the trouble I faced with the Sprint Booster (taken off last season and thrown in the storage) I'd definitely recommend it.. will find out as time goes by.

I am 1 year into my CAI, Cat back exhaust and URD MAF and its been great! No issues, better HP and yes better gas when I DON'T punch it.

I use Premium fuel to get the best all around response.

Seeing as your timing is still at factory specs and you haven’t installed any forced induction, you aren’t really seeing any benefit from spending the additional cash on 93 octane fuel, other than a weight reduction due to a lighter wallet.

I'm eager to get this ordered mine back at the end of April...still don't have it, been going back and forth with Steve "gadget" dopler as to when it might ship...:peep: he said end of last week. anyone else have experience with this company and orders....? I can understand being busy but communications been tough...

I ordered mine on March 15th. Still hasn’t shipped. It would have been nice if they would have said they were back ordered when I placed my order. Called them 1.5 weeks in and they said they were waiting on connectors and didn’t know when they would be in.

Yea I agree...i have gone back and forth over about 12 emails...the latest email i got was:

"i simply cannot provide an exact date, sorry. been having one heck of a time getting the parts delivered as promised. Doing the best we can to get orders filled."

not sure how I feel about the response since they already have my $$ and not being clear. The product sounds awesome, otherwise I might consider refund, but I already installed new TRD intake so guess the wait is still on :usa2:

I hear ya. I’ve thought the same thing.

Timing drops with bad fuel. The base tune and rated factory HP are for 93. It goes down from there. I can prove this with logs if you like. The engine will run fine on low octane... just not as good as it can. It it worth it... totally subjective.

An FYI, it's a small shop. I've ordered multiple parts from them for years, I myself have not had any issue with orders, shipping etc...

I will add, like some small shops, they are not the best at updating on shipping esp backorders, all of my orders all came in before the scheduled arrival.

I say give them a little time because all of the parts I have are top notch and there's not many companies making/selling mods(well engine mods) for our Yota's.
I heard of someone hooking up a Bully Dog tuner thou I'm not sure I'd have the guts to put that tuner in, I think it's great but I mainly see
American Cars/trucks with them.

I hear ya...I used to manage a one of custom shop where I live so I know the pressure. I know it will be worth the wait. I came from BMW/Audi world where the are many tuners aftermarket guys competing for real estate. :car: just some feedback I thought I’d share cause everyone that has this or products from them had some great feedback.

Just a subjective observation: I have the URD CAT-BACK, TRD CAI, URD MAF Calibrator and Sprint Booster. I set for daily driving at S3 or S4. Agree on the 93 Octane fuel and observation is when running lower octane, wants to drop out of OD sooner when running Interstates pulling hills. MPG is 19 around town and same on road as I typically run between 70-75MPH. Above this and MPG drops.....driving lifted brick and aerodynamics....but it does run very well above 80MPH

Does the URD MAF give any noticeable difference if everything is stock? Only thing I've added to this point is my snorkel.

Are these back in stock yet? I'm thinking of getting one.

I received a notice yesterday (5/10/18) that the one I had ordered about a week before had shipped.

When I first ordered I received the out of stock notice. But it was a quick turn around and I should have mine here very soon!

As far as I know they are back in stock now - based off mine shipping yesterday.

Waiting for the FedEx man!!!! I have mine setup for dt headers + mid pipe, Borla Exhaust and the trd intake. I’ve been getting almost 19 mpg consistently since i modded, I have a limited which has the lowest available gearing but since I got my runner in stock form 2.5 years ago it has averaged about 17.5-18 mpg, If any increase from where I am at it’s a bonus to me but I hope for a little more power (not that I drive my runner fast, my car is the go fast vehicle for me ‘08 Lexus IsF) I definetly noticed the difference in power just with the bolt ons.

Gotta tip my hat to urd for the work and dedication they have provided for us! The maf cal is the last piece to really bring together the use of bolt on engine performance mods, really gave it a re-corrected feeling all around. Pulling from a stop or accelerating out of a corner at 20mph to 70 mph was amazing, as far as the 5th gen “lacking” the v8 power, i can live quite comfortably with the v6 platform where before I was not sold on it.. Great work URD, I have long looked into them for mods when considering a newer Toyota vehicle (almost had purchased older Tacoma’s or even a 4th gen runner), now actually experiencing with what they have done it will be hard to not sell people on their products vs others (IF, there is to be competing manufacturers for our platforms within the relevance of what they provide)

I'm still just wondering if this is worth it in a stock truck...

Yes, if you are not happy with the truck response and already in the market for something like pedal commander, sprint booster...etc.

No, if the truck response doesn't bother you.

If you are looking for significant power gains, you should be looking at the supercharger thread.

Thanks for answering. I'm also planning on getting a TRD intake, but unsure if it'll fit with my snorkel. Urd y pipe is also likely, but I'm not quite sure about the noise... Quite yet

No probs. FYI the urd y pipe on stock catback is barely noticeable noise wise. Aftermarket catback or muffler will open up noise considerably (mainly based on muffler size)
