URD MAF Sensor Calibrator

Verified from URD that the #1 position is fine. Here is his email reply:

Does not matter. Whichever one you can get to the easier. With those air valve on the newer 4Runners, you are not getting to the center coil.

I installed it this morning with zero issues. Barely drove it this morning so I will save my comments. But all good

Would the URD module do anything for a rig that is 100% stock? Or, is something like pedal commander or sprint booster gonna be a better option?

I have a stock map unit coming in from a friend you can borrow if you like, I'm holding it for my buddy, he wants to install it when his warranty runs out next year. DM me if you are interested in trying it out.

IMO PC&SB works well with the maf cal if you don't crank it up too high or it will make the shift seem too early in the powerband when you mash the pedal.

"This is a dyno chart from a totally stock 2005 Tacoma X-Runner. As you can see there was a hidden 15 Rear Wheel Horse Power (RWHP) just waiting to be unleashed. Results from totally stock vehicles typically yield 8-15+ RWHP. We even found 15 RWHP on a totally stock Camry."

Providing this diagram is correct, i used the number three cylinder. As suggested. Just had to pull the hose and sensor wire. It's tight but very doable. I would suggest waiting for the motor to cool off a bit. It does get a bit warm.

Based off of this diagram I used position #5

Ok... it’s installed and it feels great on the butt dyno. Between this and the intake I really notice a difference. It even made the MF exhaust sound throatier. I only have ~50 miles on it so far but I am optimistic.

My URD MAF cal is in the mailbox waiting on me! Will install this afternoon.

Jealous. They send mine Fedex “signature required” and to put it lightly, that has really messed things up.

I asked why and they said that’s standard protocol.

I went on the FedEx website, signed up, then asked to leave it at the front door. It worked

I have read this entire thread and I still don’t get it.

Yet to take the 4R on some of the rolling highways around me that really bug me with the 4R. Shifting to early, shifting up to late, rough shifting, just strange how it seems to not know what gear to be in some times. The worst is shifting into 3rd while going up up hills at 70-80 mph then when it levels out it stays in 3rd for awhile.

So what I have been driving I am getting better gas milage, butt dyno says very noticeable improvement, shifts less, shifts smoother. So much better, like I said I don’t totally get how it is doing it all.

I have a Sprint Booster. I have played around with it with the URD. I am absolutely keeping it. The combination imo is great

Update: Today I had to deal with some aggressive traffic and merging. I hit 90 with no issue! I never felt like my 4R wanted to do that, ever. It was shocking to be honest.

Thanks for the update. Which of the two items do you like better or feel made the biggest improvement? The MAF Sensor Calibrator or the Sprint Booster? I'm leaning towards the MAF Sensor upgrade myself.

Thanks.

The MAF sensor actually recalibrates the air and fuel, where as the sprint booster just tricks the throttle. If you have an intake the URD MAF will make much more of a significant impact versus tricking your throttle

^this

I got the maf first before the PC, other members would DM me recommending me to get the PC or SB so I did, I never looked back. Then I started being that guy who told everyone to get a maf cal and throttle mod while you are at it. I noticed the improvement when I was just stock, then the addiction kicked in. It was time for new spark plugs and well that helped out the throttle response even more.

Anybody else running the URD MAF calibrator with an S&B CAI?

I'm using the TRD CAI map and wondering if there may be a better fit. Doing my own mapping of this thing seems a bit overwhelming.

I think that the AFE Momentum tune would be better than the TRD map

I agree S&B and aFe look very similar, both have that big round cone filter. Gadget was a big fan of his aFe tune, he said of the 3 intake options his URD aFe tune had the best results. I guess you get what you pay for a $500 dollar intake.
