URD MAF Sensor Calibrator

I agree S&B and aFe look very similar, both have that big round cone filter. Gadget was a big fan of his aFe tune, he said of the 3 intake options his URD aFe tune had the best results. I guess you get what you pay for a $500 dollar intake.

:mmph:

I paid like $300 on Black Friday lol

Considering adding the URD calibrator w/ an AFE momentum + PC already installed. For the cost would you buy it again? Seems like a no-brainer with this setup and use case.

Also whats your thoughts on that TB spacer? I was close to buying one for scientific purposes when I got the momentum.

I love my setup, the TB spacer and Momentum were a huge improvement with throttle response, paired with a cat-back exhaust and the URD calibrator the truck gets up and goes really well. I love it, definitely would recommend it

Anybody else running the URD MAF calibrator with an S&B CAI?

I'm using the TRD CAI map and wondering if there may be a better fit. Doing my own mapping of this thing seems a bit overwhelming.

I am running the S&B with the URD. I am using the AFE Momentum GT tune. I also run a PC. Love them both. Installed the URD and Intake in at the same time. Love it all!! Truck runs so much better. Just came back from a trip to Anza Borrego for the

weekend from San Diego. Some highway and lots of back roads, played around in the washes and trails. Just filled up today. 17.7mpg that’s a solid 2+mpg more than without intake and URD. I couldn’t be happier!!

Oh and that calculation is long hand not the computer. When I reset the trip the computer was showing 17.5.

Seeing a lot of different setups but no real reviews from those that are running the Magnuson supercharger. I have the tuned ECU but definitely notice that mid-range knock sensorish sluggishness. I read they have a MAP version for forced induction, but will I need to reflash my ECU with a new tune or will the two learn off each other?

Too bad you are in CA, 93 octane is fun. 91 should still give you seat of the pants juice.

I'm in San Diego and have 100 octane right down the street from me on the beach for the boats. Since I supercharged I need to go try this out.

I just installed the urd maf calibrator and using their afe map it looks like there are small changes at the top end but none at the lower end. I was wondering if anyone has done any tuning and how your map/tables looked when you were done? From reading tacoma forums it seems that a lot of them had to lean it out quite a bit across the entire table to get optimal a/f ratio.

I've had one for a little over a week now that I picked up used from a member here, it's mapped for the TRD CAI. I can feel some difference in throttle response and seems to get up and go better which is what I was wanting minimally but its not amazingly better! I'm running 92 octane.

Did you happen to look at the tune or modify it at all?

On mine, I put the AFE tune on it and it seemed to be mostly 10(oem) and only slight modification at the high end of the fuel tables. I as thinking that it may need to be leaner, as on the tacoma forums they seem to say that the OEM AF ratio is around 10.5:1 which is extremely rich. Not sure if anyone here leaned out their tunes? I am at elevation also, so it probably needs to be even more lean.

Living in colorado now, so its about 6k ft here.

No , what's needed to see the map? I dont have a cable or software, the sticker on the back says TRD CAI.

To see or modify the tune you need the split second r4 software which you can get by emailing urd. As for the cable, you need a usb to serial cable to connect your laptop to it.

that could simply be the octane alone.. i know i felt a nice bump on an OEM steup just running higher octane fuel

Has anyone tried the programming themselves? Steve (Gadget) says he doesn't have a tune for my set up and I would have to program it myself...

I have read this and many other threads on this mod, & I really want to add it. but I'm no Jessie (from Fast and Furious 1 for you youngin's lol) and I think that is a wee bit out of my wheel house.

I asked if there was an option that we could use that was similar or a "close fit" to what I have installed but no reply as of yet.

(Airaid TB spacer, Spectre CAI, P.C.)

for the mods you have it probably is not worth it to custom tune. It is not hard but you need to either rent dyno time from a place that hopefully has a tailpipe wideband sensor you can borrow, or buy your own wideband and obd2 software to monitor the throttle map while having someone drive up and down an open road while you street tune in the passenger seat. Either way you would be looking at $500.

I would just ask him for a basic intake tune and flash it. It would be close enough that even doing a custom tune you maybe would only gain 2hp, if that vs his canned tunes.

Custom tuning is really only worth it if you are supercharging, etc where there is a huge difference in a tune and you could also blow the engine. The gains of an intake/exhaust are negligible and you would not blow anything up or ruin the engine with such minimal mods.

Any intake tune he gives you will probably be very similar anyway, as the airflow differences between different aftermarket intakes won't be much.
