URD Spec-U Exhaust

Thanks for the link. It looks good. Only $590 for twin SS exhaust on 3" pipe. Rear exit tube can mean exhaust rises up in back. Side exits eliminate that. Not sure how side exit works for off-road or if it fits the vehicle, but it's easy to change that in the shop.

"URD has released our URD Performance Exhaust System for the 2003-2009 4Runner V6.

This cat-back system bolts to the rear of the stock Y pipe or the URD Y pipe. It features twin mufflers and is constructed of 3" 304 grade stainless steel that is all mandrel bent and hand Tig welded. The system is easy to install with no cutting or welding and uses the factory mounting points.

The system has a very nice performance tone under power, yet the twin mufflers keeps it very subdued while highway cruising.

Key features:

•Made in USA
•Use a large polished stainless muffler with an excellent performance tone
•Mandrel bent exhaust and had Tig welded
•3" 304 stainless exhaust with polished tip
•Bolts up to OEM flanges
•Very simple installation with all needed hardware included
•High quality stainless TWIN mufflers
•Clears the factory size spare tire in the stock location
•Rear exit "

I will be getting one of these systems including the y pipe. I have been waiting for them to make one for our 5th gens. But I just bought a house... So this will need to take the back seat for awhile.

The vid clips of gadgets xrunner sound great. Link on XR-underground. URD is known for making quality products.

The stock y is an over engineered POS that needs to go. The diameter of the tubing shrinks down to 50% on the drivers side, (pic below). In addition, there is an additional tube within that kink that shrinks the diameter down further, (pic in an off topic JBA header post).

Toyota did this in order to ensure the pipe will have flow if it gets crushed over a rock. Not that it applies to me in WA, but some of you might be interested to know that the URD Y should be fine for emissions tests,(still not legal on road, off-road only). No O2 sim required with removing rear cats and no codes thrown.

^ When I first saw that on my 4Runner, I thought the previous owner banged it on a rock or something... :dizzy:

Yep... It's a pretty impressive kink. Going from the stock y to this 304 stainless beauty in a couple weeks.

Order shipped. Will have an update for you soon... As well as a possible before and after Dyno if scheduling allows.

I ended up with the Borla and am pleased with it. I'll be interested to see what you think of the system you are getting.

That's a good place. I had my evo tuned there a few times by English Racing when they would do a group tune day.

Heard great things about English racing... Lots of custom work. I sent them an email about a custom turbo setup for this truck. They can do the turbo. Problem is no reliable plug n play tuning available. Would have to do standalone hard wired in.

Yeah they are the BEST out there. Mainly with Evo's and GTR's but they did make a turbo Mitsubishi Outlander and an automatic turbo Evo. Their cars go fast and the knowledge they have is amazing. I made the 4 hour drive to their place countless times and was always well worth it.

Were they saying you'd have to run an AEM standalone?

Never got to the details on the standalone... I presume it's AEM. It would be nice to have URD's UCON piggy back system... But that's not quite ready yet. By the time the connector issue is figured out, URD will probably release the supercharger for our application. I heard about English racing from the GTR crowd. Extreme turbo systems highly recommends them.

Yes!!! ETS is awesome. I ran all ETS parts on my evo too.

Here are some pictures of the factory Y pipe vs the URD competition Y pipe. The factory Y pipe is less than 2" O.D. in several spots on both sides before and after the cats. Also both pipes are crushed before going into the collector.

The URD competition Y is mandrel bent 2 1/4". This truck is not my daily driver but I have already seen an improvement in gas mileage but cant say I am surprised to say the least..
