URD Spec-U Exhaust

i'm tempted to order the Borla Type-S that just released. Just worried about pairing it with the Y-pipe. have you come across anyone that paired a catback with the y-pipe with no drone?

I have the aFe y-pipe and hi-tuck exhaust. Took a couple tries to track down excessive noise. I think it still drones a little. Hard to tell with wind noise from roof rack and beefy tires. It's definitely not quiet, that's for sure.

Anybody done a flowmaster? Hows it sound in a 4runner?

I found my drone was being caused by ill fitment. The clamp on the rear of the muffler was not strong enough to keep it in place on the axle pipe. I actually had it come apart while on the way to work, thankfully I checked under the truck before driving off or I could have lost the muffler. A couple of my other joints were ill-sized. I took it to a pro and they welded the muffler in place for me, made a huge difference. Currently troubleshooting leaks from their headers.

I replaced my afe panel filter with oem toyota for now, to lower.. the noise level haha.

i mean i'm not even 100% sure. i have a snorkel, going into airbox, super charger and exhaust. Any of those can be causing the... resonating frequencies ? not sure if i just made that up... to be slightly different then if i only had the exhaust.

That sucks, but had it happen to me with a pothole. I had tried some 3" lap joint clamps, they stretched a little quicker than the URD provided ones. I'd suggest just having a shop weld the muffler on both sides, then you'll not have to worry about it.

thanks! will try to find a place.. the sizing on the muffler and the sizing of the rest of the system... makes it impossible to clamp it down perfectly
even the part that mates to the stock Y pipe.. seems so big that the donut isn't working well enough.
ordered a handful of clamps..
worse come to worse, i have the borla s type system in my garage... waiting to be installed.

replaced one exhaust clamp, to realize that 2 others have leaks and soot from them.
only the final clamp to the tailpipe looks good

i have the mark3 with the exhaust clamp with welded on exhaust hangers.. probably screwed if i tried to touch this clamp, not even replaceable.
