US Jack 5 Ton Bottle Jack ?'s

Hi,

I am considering buying one of these jacks. Anyone have experience with them?

USA Made, 8 5/8" to 17 5/8" lift…

For some reason I just read a few jack and jack stand horror stories and am leery of my china napa branded jack…


Found one for $95 like-new/used

Thoughts?

That's a lot of money for a 5 ton jack. I would trust the china made one. If jacks fail companies will have a hard time coming back from that bad press so they have to make them pretty well I would think.

I just bought this one for $24 with a 25% off coupon. I don't plan on using it to its full capacity any time soon but I'm sure it will hold plenty.

There's a lot of truth in that BUT they fail and I wonder if the vast myriad amount of jack brands is juts a way to hide from lawsuits. The fact you can get a china made floor jack for $50 and an equal rated USA model can cost well over $500 (I know that's an extreme but I can provide examples!).

Like I said I read some horror stories, most knucklehead not using jack stands but china made jacks literally folding up under moderate under spec loads and since this one popped up… They usually go for $135-$165 if you can find them…


I'm gonna try to get him down to $75 +/-. I'll post back at least with my impressions of the jack.

is this bottle jack going to be used for emergencies only.

because I don't see the point in using a bottle jack for regular maintenance in any condition.

I would not trust my life to a bottle jack.

If you need something for the trail, why not just use the Toyota jack which is a bottle jack and a four by six piece of wood.

There was a saying, "If you have a $10 head, buy a $10 helmet". Personally I wouldn't trust ANY jack with my life, that is what stands are for. Understanding that isn't practical on a trail, I'd buy the better Jack.

As for the company coming back from bad press, they just rebrand and keep on rolling. The reality is that although catastrophic failures do happen, they are pretty rare. In all likely hood the failure would be less dramatic, and over time.

Would I buy a Chinese made Jack? Yes
Would I prefer a higher quality US made Jack? Absolutely

HF may have been around a long time but they still sell cheap Chinese made jacks and jack stands.

To be fair though the 12 ton bottle jack you linked looks legit.

Even if it can only carry half it's claimed weight that is still more than the entire truck.

Jacks are for lifting NOT support! Use jack stands100% of the time

Failure can be catastrophic but is usually over time. I have tossed 2 Sears China jacks on the past 10 years. Thought they were good till I needed them.

That said I did buy the jack for $80. They retail for $167+ I'll post photos later but it is super high quality and about twice as big/beefy as my 4 ton napa bottle jack.

I read several article about jack ratings and there does not seem to be any standards. If this USJack is a true 5 ton the napa might be 2.... Everything about the jack is superior. From fit and finish to smoothness of lift and release. Just played with a little so far but highly impressed and recommended highly! Better than my old school Lincoln's that I have no clue what happened to ...,

Lots comments about trail use. What are you guys using off road? Hi-Lift? I have a stock 4R and don't think I can use those. Considered a floor type jack and board but that seems as awkward as a bottle jack.

Here are some side-by-side images with a 4 ton Everlast made in china Napa brand jack.

MUCH larger/beefier than any similar rated jack I have ever owned including USA Lincolns!

Even if $80 was a lot for a bottle jack I had not been able to find another USA made jack in working order for that price so over all quite please with the deal.

Good that it has a serial number and parts easily available. A lifetime jack.

Highly recommended!
