USB port

I'm installing a new stereo and wanted to put the USB port to it into one of the blanks. I have found USB ports that will direct fit into the blanks but they are just for charging (positive and negative wires) and not for playing audio. The stereo I have comes with an extension with a female USB port.

I'm looking for a direct fit USB insert with preferably a USB cable off the back so I don't have to splice the 4 wires and cut the USB extension it came with.

Any help is appreciated.

(Edited to add that this is the same item as RadicalTactical posted in his link.)

I just installed this in the same spot as RadicalTactical put his dual USB port (I have that as well, but will be installing that in the back seat area somewhere).

My new Pioneer head unit had ports for the USB and the 3.5 aux input on the back...I just discarded the USB cable that came with the new stereo and used the one pictured instead. Get it on Amazon for $20.

Thanks for the replies guys. I wanted one that would fit in the blank instead of drilling. Thanks Bamma, I ordered that one

wanting to add USB ports

I am going to add some USB ports to my console. I was planning on adding this guy into the center blank of the console http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010T3CWY4/ref=s9_dcbhz_bw_g107_i3_sh

and I was am wanting to add http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013W8LQ7C/ref=s9_dcbhz_bw_g107_i2_sh to the blank inside the console and connect it to the stereo so that we have easy access to switch from Ipod to iphone etc...

My question is that if I add both of these to the 12v line that powers the cig lighter, am I in any danger of overloading the circuit? I know little of electronics, but I am wanting to learn more.

How many amps is that 12v circuit rated for?

I was also hoping to add some seat warmers in the near future to the same line, but I think I may be overdoing it?

I've been thinking about this exact mod. I'm so glad someone has done it first; now I know there's room behind there for it! Did you do any kind of write up for it?

I'm using power from the cig lighter adapter for my phone's Google Maps app. I had been looking at putting a usb in the switch blank on the center console, like so many already have. However, I already don't like having the power cable draped along side the center console as it is; and I had been thinking that the spot there in the front would be perfect - both for my purpose, and for passengers to use when needed.

Do you have a 3.5mm audio in

located in the bottom of your center consule that you might be able to switch to USB for playback? It would be out of view BUT could be a pain to use b/c of its location in the bottom of the bin.

hendy.27 and everyone else interested in adding USB ports, two things...my thread on such an install may be helpful, and FWIW, I've had the Mictuning product you linked too and it does a poor job of charging my iPad. In fact, PM me if you want mine since I'm swapping in a Blue Sea 1039 4.8A model based on another member's experience with it.

Bluesky.....is the Blue Sea 1039 only for charging? I'm in the same boat as it were. I saw found the 1039 yesterday but it only looks like it's for charging from what I've been able to find, and I'd like to also play audio thru the usb as was mentioned in the OP.

Yes, charging only. For audio, I ran my iPhone cable directly to the USB input of my HU.

Looks like wc11's find could work as an audio+charge option.

No write up. I added another one to the inside of my center console as well, near the 110 outlet. I wired them directly to constant 12v, so it charges all the time if needed. I earlier ran a 6 fuse block directly from the battery. It's behind the center console.
