Usb relocated, kinda

My new to me 2012 Shoreline Blue TE was delivered to my doorstep this morning.

Love the 4runner, hate that the usb is in the glove box. I actually thought about taking the dash apart and swapping the locations of the usb and aux connectors. But i came up with this quick fix instead. I took the panel off the inside of the glove box and fished the usb cable through to above the aux jack and under the flip down door.

Then i notched the plate for the cable.

The cable can be rolled up and stored behind the door when not in use.

Pretty cool idea. I toyed around with the idea of purchasing another OEM USB port through my dealer...price was around $100 so I scratched that idea pretty quickly. This looks like it might make a good alternative other than swapping the ports with each other entirely.

Anyone with a 2013 4Runner care to post a picture of their port? I think they were relocated to the center.

Nice work. I for one like it in the glove compartment since once it is connected you can't control the iPod from the wheel anyways. You have to use the head unit to control it.

It is an iPod that I use. Texting is Galaxy SIII, which sits in the cup holder.

Usb

No USB in glove box, only 12v plug. Center stack has USB and AUX on my 2013 and a 12v plug next to them.

Does anyone know the power output of the glovebox USB port ?
