Use H4 in heavy rain?

Not sure what you're saying here and how it's relevant to anything I have posted in this thread. Am I supposed to be addressing the thread you highlighted? The reality is that questions will be repeated and everyone knows that. That's not the issue. The issue is that people can't be bothered to look at the most recent threads or do a simple search out of pure laziness.

yet people are willing to type out a rant about not searching instead of answering the question? why respond at all is my point? how about simply moving on and let us idiotic noobs answer each others questions ad nauseum? i know we could never entertain the thought of answering a driving in the rain question as thoroughly and as expertly as you OG's did back in 2011 but can't we be given the shot? or does this place have to be made as unfriendly as a new york subway just to please your need for less threads?

i was going to ask a question about trimming the rear mudflaps on the front wheels, since i think i remember someone posting an elegant cutting solution, but after several hours of various searches (you ****ing search "mud flap trim" and various iterations of that and see how long it takes you to find it) but i won't know since i'm afraid of all you tough guys jumping down my throat. i guess i'll continue my search as to not upset your pansie-ish tolerance of new threads

Two points you can't wrap your head around:

1. We aren't talking about posts from 2011. We are talking about a thread that was on the first page for a number of days last week.

2. The issue is people not making the attempt to look. We know not everything will be located all the time. If a person says that they tried searching and haven't been successful it at least shows that you were willing to try and help yourself first.

Now back to my question since you are such a big proponent of answering them. What point were you trying to make with the threads I started?

When the rain is really coming down hard, I actually use that as an opportunity to get my monthly 10 miles of driving in 4x4 and use 4H to do so. With that said, I only drive in straight lines (I have plenty of roads around me that are miles long and very straight) and then make sure to put back in 2H whenever I approach an area where I need to turn the wheel relatively sharply. Yes, the oldtimers are quick to point out that someone did not search, but this place seems to have more than its fair share of people asking the same simple questions over and over.

The first couple of months I was on here, I thought "Man, some of these guys are real d**ks", but after hanging around a while I am starting to see where they are coming from. I guess the best suggestion for everyone is "Lighten up, Francis".

The 4Runner is a heavy beast. I tried to make it hydroplane at 75-80MPH hitting all the puddles I could. No slippage, no surprises. It stayed glued to the road. Now, if ran into a puddle 6inches high or more, I probably wouldn't be going 75-80MPH in the first place, but it might hydro. Might. =P

Answer: ice, snow, mud/off-road, and even then you might not even need to kick it in, as the TR4 is a heavy beast.

I spent all my days on t4r.org up until about 4 months ago on the 3rd gen forum because that's what I owned.

Older vehicles, mostly a younger crowd and rarely did I see somebody make a nasty comment about using the search engine. Just more laid back in general.

Then I come over here on the 5th gen forum. Newer, more expensive vehicles. Obviously an older, less tolerant crowd (some would say some here are curmudgeons or have a stick up their butts).

Interesting. I look at it like I have way more important things and bigger problems in life then some dude not using the search function to get my panties in a wad about it.

BTW: When I've been in Seattle (go through there every couple years - and was stationed there for a while in 1965 [US Coast Guard]) the rain wasn't a big deal. But the price one has to pay for a parking space downtown is ridiculous!
