Using CB through AUX jack

Not great pics- but more in my photo album- see my avatar. It enters through the rubber grommet into the headliner- down to the taillight access panel then through the sillplates to the front. Hope that helps!

I was looking into installing a CB like yours mounted to the stock roof racks. I purchased the Cobra 75 and the firestik antenna kit. But I was wondering if anyone has any details on what to use to connect the CB to the fusebox? This will be my first electrical mod, so as much detail would be appreciated. I know people have wired into different fuses, but what do I need to get to wire the cb in? Also did you have to purchase something to seal the antenna connection from the rain? I see that you have a rubber housing on the bottom of the antenna, is that included?

This is what I used (remember to get the MINI tap)- no need to cut or tap into any wires. You can get this at any autoparts store. If you want the CB to be on during only when the ignition is on, use the P-Outlet fuse.




Also did you have to purchase something to seal the antenna connection from the rain? I see that you have a rubber housing on the bottom of the antenna, is that included?

Yes- the rubber boot covering the end of the coax was included with the antenna kit. Hope that helps!

I'm thinking of just installing an auxiliary fuse box and just powering the CB through there now. Should have to use these minifuses as well.

I am following Jeff's initial steps and am going to mount the CB antenna to the roof rack.

My question is this, has anyone test or has any commendations to a "no ground needed" antenna vs one that does need grounding?

Most of the FS kits are sold with No Ground needed antennas.
There's also this new FS antenna called firefly which is lighter and from what I read requires less power draw but the performance is essentially the same?? Can anyone confirm

Sorry bout the pics- the wires just go to a switch. Or- you could simply connect the blue/yellow wires together inside the receiver case, and the handset speaker will stay on when the mini plug is in... your choice---

I've got a question about the option of just connecting the blue and yellow wires together:

Can you turn up the volume on the handheld without affecting the stereo volume and vise-versa: turn up the stereo without the handheld volume increasing?

Basically, will the two speakers have independent volume controls?

Hey Antman, do you have a pic of your auxiliary fuse box. I’m about to wire mine up and just curious on what it looks like since the add a fuse doesn’t fit under the cover. Did you forgo the cover? Also what amp fuse did you use?

I thought this might be a useful place to ask this question. I recently installed Icom5021 radio in my Gen5 and each time I key the radio it resets my Pioneer audio deck that my phone is connected to via USB, disconnects CarPlay, etc. I’ve tried multiple fuses with my add-a-fuse and the same result persists. Any thoughts or other questions?
