Using CB through AUX jack

The yellow sticker in the console, just forward of the transfer case shifter, is the Yaw Rate sensor. I used a ring connector and bolted it in place, as it was all bare metal and maybe 10 inches from where the box is mounted.
 
Yup, that was my first ground attempt- noisy for me. I'm gonna ground the case and go from there. Thanks for the pics!
 
Mini plug in with handset working

I did buy a stereo mini plug and routed it up and behind the AUX input panel, drilled a hole to allow it to pass through back into the cabin, and plugged into the AUX input. Works great, but you can't just unplug it from the AUX and use the speaker on the handset because the other end of the plug is still in the CB. I'm pondering that decision, but I'll probably just leave the cable unplugged at both ends unless I know I will be using the CB constantly.

OK- I figured this out today, and it's not that hard. Not sure many people will want to go through the effort, but it was worth it to me. I put a switch in that allows you to leave the mini-plug in the CB receiver and turn the handset speaker on or off. This will allow you to leave the jack plugged in and tucked away in the console, and you can listen to BT Streaming, or the radio, or Ipod and the CB will work through it's handset speaker. When you switch to AUX the sound will still come through your stereo speakers, and the handset as well- if you want it to.
The cover comes off with the twist of a few tabs...

Tap into the blue and yellow wires and run the leads to a SPST switch. I cut the wires and soldered a length of wire in, then reattached the wires and heatshrinked. Basically, when these wires are connected, the handset speaker works. I really suck at putting pictures up- can't seem to get more than 1 to upload at a time. Sp8ball!! where are you??? I'll post more...

Sorry bout the pics- the wires just go to a switch. Or- you could simply connect the blue/yellow wires together inside the receiver case, and the handset speaker will stay on when the mini plug is in... your choice---
Another Antman original...with a crappy writeup.........LOL!!

I spent some time on this over the weekend, because I was never very happy with the first install attempt. So I ripped the box back out and tried your "soldering a switch into the blue and yellow wires" trick... and broke the blue wire free from the board in the process. Go me!

So I bought another remote box ($20), some 22 gauge wire and some phone line crimp-on wire taps from Radio Shack, which worked far better for tapping into those blue and yellow wires. I used heat shrink as wire protector and routed them out through the same hole as the mic cable. Then, I just soldered the two new wires to a stereo miniplug with a right angle that I scavenged from my box-o-crap, and it works marvelously.

When I want to listen to the CB through the AUX plug, I just select it as the source and we're good to go. When I don't I can pull the plug or just switch to a different source and the handset speaker works as usual. Yes, the handset speaker is always on, but this solution works as well as Antman's and I didn't have to drill another hole for a switch.

Antman, you might not be as prolific as some other poster, but you rocked this one. Thanks!

Thanks Mike! Update- I wasn't happy with the switch, so I went back and just connected the blue and yellow wires inside the box and left the mini plug in the jack. I used the switch location for my 12v mod which will have a writeup soon!

I thought nobody was going to use this mod- glad it turned out for you!
 
Will try the mount and report back on how it works / lasts. Anyways what do you use when the antenna is folded?

The only reason I fold the antenna is to get into my garage or a parking garage. It's in the up position the rest of the time.

Hope that mount works out for you! Make sure you use a spring... :)
 
I guess I should have asked before but where did you get your fold down mount and what kind is it?

BTW, I got the one I mentioned and its very unimpressive.

It's a standard Firestick 3-way mount. I modified it to work the way it does. Basically, you need some shorter bolts (or cut the ones that come with it).

All the work I put into mine with the wingnut/locknut setup isn't needed once you get the tension just right. Mine stays in place unless I physically push it down, and I never mess with the wingnut anymore. You may need to trim the bracket so it folds, depending on where you mount it. Some more pics...

Hey Antman! Sorry for the thread necro, but this is the exact thread I've been hunting for for the last day and a half.

Just got me a 4' FireStik II and a Cobra 75 WX ST. Was curious where/how you came into the cab on the other end of the antenna wire.

Gonna use your pictures of the roof work to see if I can do something similar.

Edit: Also, when you ran your antenna cable through the insulator for the washer fluid, does the cable just naturally follow the channeling that the washer fluid follows? And where does that come out?

I haven't actually attempted anything yet so that's why I'm asking questions that might possibly be really obvious once I get out there. It's just a bit cold outside right now so I'm not rushing to go stand outside for a few hours.
