V6 Towing

I towed almost 4,000lbs with my 3rd gen's 3.4L V6. It wasn't fast by any means, and used horrid amounts of fuel, but it worked just fine....and the new 4.0L V6 is a HUGE improvement over the 3.4L power/torque wise.

And enough with the V8 vs V6 stuff.....the V8 is better but costs more....end of story.

:what:

It's exactly this thinking that CAUSES the v8/v6 arguments.

OK i agree about ending this v8/v6 stuff..VERY annoying...talk about beating a horse that's been dead since 2003...

unfortunately though, it's almost ~always~ started by a v8 owner putting down the v6's capabilities....or saying something like '"you'd have to be an idiot to buy the v6". If that makes them feel better about themselves at the end of the day, great, but it annoys alot of v6 owners. Your comment "v8 is better but costs more, end of story" is innacurate. There are more than a few reasons I chose the v6 over the v8 and price was not the only issue.

Dead horse beaten, flogged, defiled, and minced.

I think both groups are equally at fault. I find V6 drivers generally refuse to acknowledge that the V8 does ANYTHING better....and that's simply not the case.

Personally, I don't need anything to make me feel better about what I bought, I've driven probably 50 4rth gen 4Runners of every package and engine/tranny combo and know all the differences first hand :)

I tow a travel trailer around 4600lbs with v6 2003 with no problem. I tow around a mounth a year for vacation. The rest a the year i'm the taxi for my 3 kid....,:p and with the prize of gaz in canada i chose the V6

v6 drivers UNANIMOUSLY agree that the v8 is better for towing.

He's asking a simple question. Sometimes we need re-enforcement that we are making the correct choice, so there is nothing wrong with that.

Thats what a forum like this is for, to ask questions and get answers.

Sharp4runr, you speak with wisdom!!!
