V6 vs V8... who's faster/quicker ?

wow this degraded quickly... Who's faster the V6 or the V8? Neither... The officer with the cruiser and radio will beat both engines handily... If you are on a track (which would be out of place anyway) it would mostly depend on the driver's reaction time.

Not to venture off course, but I will. I got a loaner Tacoma Double Cap when they were looking at my brakes... and for having the same 4.0 V6, I was amazed at how much slower than my 4Runner with the same engine. When I got it back, it felt like the 4Runner was supercharged after driving the Tacoma for a few days.
I traded in a '02 2WD Tundra SR5 with the IForce to buy my 4Runner because after my son was born, the pick-up was just to impractical. My Tundra off the line seemed way faster than the 4Runner. Some of that can be contributed to tip-in (which was changed eventually) but at about 3500 and with a V8, that pickup was fast. Having said that, anytime that my friend with is 3.0 Audi A4 (w/ 5 speed) wanted to smoke me, he could.
It just goes to show that you should buy a 4WD for what it is... and since I don't tow my boat anymore, the V6 suits me just fine.
The thing that I miss most about my Tundra is the growl (and the fact the brakes didn't ever squeek... but I digress.)

I guess it's all preference because I like the sound of the V6 engine under load. It's by no means like the sound of a blender...
