V8 2wd sport parts to convert to 4wd

I am going to do the conversion is not up for debate please.

I'm not building a rock crawler or serious trail rig, I just want 4wd for a little exploring getting our little camper back to pavement if the weather gets nasty.

I have done a lot of drivetrain swaps, but I don't know Toyota 4wd component interchangeability.

I need some guidance on what parts I need to gather & modify.
I've read that I need the A750F transmission to replace my A750E, what manual transfer case can I use & where to get it from.

Ready to start, I have the ADD front 3.73 from an FJ, with new half shafts & hubs assemblies. I bought Bilstein 5100's and FJ springs to install while the front end is apart. Looks like with the diff drop I will not need to notch the V8 oil pan. I've done the twin stick mio to the FJ transfer case & have V8 4runner 4wd crossmember, driveshafts and hardware. I believe everything will be a bolt in except cutting the shifter hole & modifying the levers to properly fit the coin tray.

Nice work. Would love to hear more about the different components you used and any issues you ran into.
 
The front end is all bolt on, very straight forward. I've put ~1000 miles on it with the ADD axle & my fuel economy hasn't changed measurably.
I'm waiting on Rock Solid to send me their twin stick & ADD harness to swap the transmission & transfer case. I heard I'll need t modify the 4wd 4runner cross member slightly, different stories on the driveshafts, some say the stock 4wd shafts will work, others say they need to be altered. Should be able to get this wrapped up by the end of Oct.

I was the first to do a 2wd conversion by RST back in June of 2011, everything was a learning process being it had never been done before. After we had everything in place we found out my front & rear driveshafts did not line up and Wyatt sent them out to be custom sized.

Here is a quote from Wyatt from Rock Solid Toys posted in my conversion build thread.

"Anytime you do something that has never been done you run into small issue's like this. It only went two days over schedule and the only reason that happened was because we had to have custom drive shafts made. The reason for that is because the stock 4wd drive shafts from a 4runner are not the correct length for this swap. The front ended up being too long and the rear was too short and the reason for that is because the stock 4runner use's a transfer case that has a center diff lock and is there fore longer than the FJ case is which would require a shorter, custom rear drive shaft and a longer custom front drive shaft. I have the measurements and my drive line guy has them programmed into his computer for the next time."

In my case, I removed the grease zert on a stock front 4wd driveshaft & it collapsed more than enough to use on the front with out modification. Still has an inch of compression left. The rear I slid the slip joint out 1.5" to mock up & although several people are running it that way I plan to have it re tubed to put the spline engagement back to original. All in all the conversion has been mostly bolt on, largely because of the advice of those that have done it before me.
The shifters & sealing them to the tunnel has been the biggest pain in the ass.
The cross member was easy.
 
Nice work… These projects look somewhat hard to accomplish but you tend to make it look easy. My initial thought was just to sell and buy a 4WD truck haha.
