So, over the weekend, I did my tune up and change oil since it was due and the check engine light lit up. Afterwards, my check engine lit up again and started blinking. Went to a friends place where he has all sorts of gadgets for engine testing and did the following.
1. Checked for codes - P0304 - w/c means misfire at 4th cylinder
2. Checked/swapped coils - still P0304
3. Checked valve clearances - all ok
4. Did a compression test - cylinder 4 at around 100 the rest was around 180
5. Tested cylinder 4 with cylinder leak test - exhaust valve has a leak
2005 4Runner V8 with 109,000 miles. I think this mileage is too low for a Toyota.
Anyone else had this experience? What would you recommend? Valve job? re-manufactured heads? change engine with a used one?
