v8 symbols

Okay, lets just take the V6 out of the discussion for now. The V8 model is substantially discounted now because of incentives/rebates. That means the market for used V8 4Runners has taken a hit. In other words, your 4Runner on the open market will sell for less than it would have if Toyota did not offer incentives/rebates on the new V8 4Runners.

The same exact thing happened with GM when they started selling all their new vehicles at employee discount pricing. Think about it-- the poor sucker who bought a new Trailblazer a year ago lost a bunch of his resale value because GM is practically giving away NEW Trailblazers.

Now when it comes to the V6 4Runners, that's an entirely different story. A new V8 4Runner can be purchased right now for less than a V6 4Runner, even though the MSRP is higher on the V8 model. What does that tell you about the true market value of the V8 versus the V6?

If you were in the market for a used 4Runner, you'd find that used V8 models MUST be discounted comparably more than the V6 models simply because of the incentive pricing on NEW V8 models. In other words, you'd find some screaming deals on a used V8 4Runner. Why? Simple--if the owner isn't offering a great deal, then the buyer would just buy a brand new V8 4Runner at a deeply discounted price.

so find me a used V6 that costs more than a used V8. (same specs + roughly the same km)

couple of things....
1) I wouldn't buy a V6 that costs more than a V8

2) I wouldn't price a V6 above a V8

The reality is, in my area there are more 2005 V8 available in dealership's inventory than those with V6, .... even after $3000 rebate for V8. Can not understand why people prefer V6 to V8.

Whenever possible, I have always bought the most powerful engine available when purchasing a vehicle. My last two rides were Explore V8's. When it came time for me to buy a 2006 4Runner, the gas had just shot above $3 per gallon. Everything I had read said there was little difference in performance between the V6 and V8 4Runner unless you were towing a heavy boat. My Jet Ski is not all that heavy. I figured the V6 HAD to get better mileage. The Toyota folks are BEGGING me to take the V8 off their hands (do they know something I don't know). Whatever the mileage on the V8, I'd always know I could be doing better with the V6. So blame it on the damned Arabs but I got the V6 and I'm very happy. I'm getting 18-19 around town and about 21 on the highway. Much better than my V8 Explorer and just as much power.

Here is the reality, They are both GREAT engines and both are very reliable. The non-VVT-i V8 (03-04) had about the same performance as the VVT-i V6 but the VVT-i V8 (05-06) has more torque & HP and you will feel the difference. The deciding factor should be; do you need the extra power? Weather for towing or to just have the most power available, and is it worth the extra gas. To most people the V6 is plenty and is more then they will use or need. Again they are both GREAT engines!

Uh, back to our programming. Me thinks this thread was about putting a V-8 emblem on a V-6.

Oh and BTW, isn't the hood scoop a "what I really got" violation too? Because I know that air going into my Sport's scoop ain't going into my engine.

Or, are hood scoops off limits. Other members have even switched hoods (names will be changed to protect the innocent).

This ultimately reminds me of the star-bellied sneetches...

anyways, move along people, just move along...

I have the TRD blower on my Taco and didn't mount the Supercharger emblems because it's fun looking at people's faces after they got spanked by a 3.4 V6 automatic pick-up. I can read there lips :wtf:
