Valve Cover Bolts

Hey guys,

I cant for the life of me find the part# on where to buy replacement valve cover bolts, two of mine broke off recently when removing the cover.

***Update from my earlier thread, I got my heads completely rebuilt for a good price. Replacing as much as possible while heads are off. All belts, pulleys etc. Any suggestions or input appreciated.

My Toyota-fu skills says it's 90105-06127.

I also just did a poor man's rebuild on an engine (heads did not come off, however) and this was one of my orders from Rockauto, if this helps:

1998 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 3.4L V6

BECK/ARNLEY 0361583 (036-1583) Valve Cover Gasket
BECK/ARNLEY 0396428 (039-6428) PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) Grommet
BECK/ARNLEY 0450297 (045-0297) PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) Valve
BECK/ARNLEY 0374817 (037-4817) Intake Plenum Gasket
FEL-PRO OS30623C1 Oil Pan Gasket
GB REMANUFACTURING 8037 (8-037) Fuel Injector O-Ring
GB REMANUFACTURING 8037 (8-037) Fuel Injector O-Ring
MAHLE F7460 Pipe Flange Gasket / Seal
MAHLE MS16263 Exhaust Manifold Gasket

I did more than that, but not with 100% new parts. I just did the timing belt on the old engine so I moved the entire timing belt kit to the new engine. It's way easier to do out of the engine bay, so if you want another 100k of care-free miles it's worth doing now. I should also say, unless you've got the cleanest engine in the world, if you do the water pump get some water pump gasket maker too. My surface was so pitted even after scraping it real good.

When I did my valve cover gaskets I noticed the bolts were hardly finger right. Every so often I check them, and don’t ya know it, they’re loose every time. I think the treads must be shot. Going to order new bolts and try again. Hoping that solves the issue.
 
Take one to Hope Depot or Lowes and match it up. Why overpay for a simple bolt at the dealer? There is nothing special about them, they're just bolts.

Multiple issues could be occurring. Your gaskets (and bolt washer seals) have lost their pliability and or are shrinking. In your case, since you just did the VC gaskets, new bolt washer seals are definitely in order. These 2 things are what are "pushing back" on the bolts, kind of like a lock washer. With the 50 something inch pounds of torque the factory calls for, it wouldn't take much to make them loosen up again. In this case, if you have no leaks, you could use some BLUE loctite on the bolts.

I did new bolt washer seals when doing the VC job.
Looking like loctite might be the fix.

Blue Loctite. I used it when I did my VC years ago and have never had to re tighten my bolts. Also, make sure the bolts AND the bolt holes are clean and dry. Brake Kleen and compressed air.

I know this is on the 3rd gen forum, but for the life of me I can't find the bolt number for the 4th gen V6. Would you guys happen to know what that part number would be. Mine are all rusted. Thank you .

Not sure what you need or your exact year or model. Looks like you have some bolts, some studs and nuts, and some bolts (3) with seals on top. Save this site for your parts searches.

I have never change the valve cover gasket just tighten the bolts everytime i change the spark plugs. 220000 mile and the valve cover is still holding up.

Mine has a leak on the passenger side, and its coming from the area where you're supposed to add sealant to it. So I might as well do them both while I'm in there.
 
Hopefully this is my last question, Ive looked at the diagram on japan-parts and I can't seem to locate the bolt that holds coils to the Valve Cover. I see the 3 that hold the valve cover to the block 91551-80660. Would anybody know what those 3 are for each coil?
