Thanks, yeah, I read that article, but shopping around I didn't see them available, but finally found a set. How about the 16 'washer seals'? Are those reusable? It's tough to find all the parts at one store, so wondering how critical some of these things truly are. Thanks again.

The washer seals can be reused since they don't get torqued down too tight. I bought new ones but if $$$ is tight, don't sweat it.

I have a related issue. I just replace the driver's side valve cover gasket on my 94 4runner because it was leaking oil. After replacing the gasket, when I started the car, when parked shot up to ~2300 rpm. It seems like there was more compression since the oil guage show an increase of pressure. I adjusted the throttle and was able to lower it to ~1500 rmp. When I started driving, the engine seemed very rough and after I parked the car, I still saw oil dripping but now from the valve cover that was just replace. I had not had the time to look yet but any suggestions on why the engine is running so rough? Thanks in advance for the feedback.

My started leaking a few weeks backs. Seems to be getting worse so definitely something I'll be doing in the next few weeks. Thanks for the help on this! Now I just have to find time to get tit done....
Maybe you missed or crossed-up vacuum hoses when reassembling. That would affect the idling.

Old thread, but I ordered 90430-37140 GASKET (For oil filler cap) and it doesn't really seem like it fits on the stock fill cap. I tried it and it barely leaves any room for the threads on the cap to bite into the VCG threads.
Anyone have any issues with this?

I cannot believe they would change the gasket from 1997 to 1998+ on the same engine... but it's possible.
That part number worked perfectly on my 99 and my buddies 98 .

This is my 3rd consecutive post in this thread. It took a trip to the dealership parts department to understand why the gasket wasn't fitting. Turns out, there was a gasket already smashed into the cap that I didn't think was a gasket. So that squishy part inside the top of the cap is the old gasket. I used a knife to cut it out and the new gasket (PN:90430-37140) fit right in
