Not sure if anyone else has had this problem. Just bought a 2014 SR5, and the vent controls that determine where the air blows out of is off. When I change it to face and feet. it only blows at the face. I have to move it to inbetween feet only and feet and face to get anything on my feet?

Just curious if anyone else has had this problem and is there a fix?

When you put it on the face/feet setting, stick your hand down in the floor on the driver's side to check airflow. Now stick your hand down in the passenger's footwell. Is there a difference? I know there is on mine and a few years ago there was a discussion about this topic. Seems a lot of them are that way.

May not apply to these vehicles but if the dampers that control the vent locations are not working the dampers won't open properly.

I had a vehicle that had problems - under engine load climbing a hill, the AC would go to defrost mode, then resume while going down the hill. Turned out to be a vacuum leak because the dampers are vacuum controlled. Engine load loses vacuum and the damper could not work properly. My vacuum hose slipped off.

Maybe a seasoned pro can chime in on how the dampers work on the AC system??

There are quite a few things that could be causing the trouble that you describe; jammed blend/mode selector door, defective actuator, etc... but before going crazy trying to determine that (if you haven't already), try disconnecting the negative battery terminal for about 30 to 45 minutes and then reconnect it. There's a chance that the 'Climate Control' ecu may have 'locked-up' (frozen) and may need resetting. Once reset, it may resume working as it should... let us know how you made out, best to you!

Not much air blows into the footwells unless you have the setting to "feet" only.

Just the way it is- the entire HVAC system is barely adequate in the first place.

They're electrically operated so engine load has little to do with it. The only way the engine affects the A/C is when it is getting close to overheating at which point the ECU shuts off the A/C compressor to reduce engine load and the heat dumping in front of the radiator from the evaporator.

I would guess it's operating normally. When it is set to purely face or feet there will be noticeable airflow from the appropriate vents. When it is splitting the flow more airflow will tend to go to the face than the feet as that is how it is designed. As 1Engineer said, find the foot vents and put your hand in front of them while changing the settings. If you have air coming out the foot vents in varying amounts it's operating normally. Also, there's a book in the glove box which has a number of pages with pictures showing how the airflow changes with each selection. :

Adjust temp dial

Had this problem too,it's the temp dial needs to be all the way to the right one little notch off and the heat won't come on fully in the bottom., if using vent feet setting,When you move the temp dial I can hear the air being rerouted to other vents.
