Vibration/grinding feeling in gas pedal 35-50mph ??

99 4runner 5spd 4wd recently purchased 185k on the clock. Had bad vibration in the rear, drive shaft completely balanced an redone at drive shaft shop.

vibration only when gas is applied and starts at 30ish to 50 mph and only felt at gas pedal and seat. Feels like its coming from passenger side front. I replaced both CV axles, lower ball joints, inner/outer tie rods. Still have minor vibration/grinding feeling at gas pedal.
When 4wd is engaged vibration/grinding is gone.

Thinking wheel bearing but if gas is not applied (neutral at 45mph no vibration).

Rotor caliper I have no pulsation when brakes are applied.

Revving engine in neutral different vibration.

I did recently lift vehicle but dont know if issue was there prior to lift. Have 1" diff drop installed. What should i check or look into I'm starting to get frustrated. Lol

I did more testing trying to figure out the vibration grinding feeling in floor and gas pedal non in steering wheel.

I removed rear drive shaft and drove around in front wheel drive, vibration is not there. Took rear drive shaft back to driveline shop to have re checked and rebalanced shop rebalanced and said everything looked good. I reinstalled rear drive shaft vibration is still felt.

Vibration happens throughout from start of acceleration the harder I press the accelerator(1800-2500rpm's) the more intense the vibration/binding feeling. Turning doesn't change the vibration, vibration is not felt when coasting in any gear. Vibration is not vehicle speed related its more pronounced with engine speed under load.
I've changed the rear diff fluid
Replaced transfer case fluid
Replaced manual trans fluid

There is no play side to side up and down movement on drive shaft. Checked by hand.

Is there anything else to be checked before I pay another 150-200 to have drive shaft rebuilt at a different drive line shop???? Thanks
 
I'm gonna order trans mount and swap that out visual check looks intact. Since its cheap and easy, fingers crossed. I'm at wits end with this issue would bad trans cause vibration.
 
It's your rear drive line, most likely. Like you've discovered, if it's not there it doesn't vibrate. The mounts would vibrate if the rear shaft was there or not. There was a thread a few weeks back with the same issue, balancing the drive shaft made things worse. He ended up getting a new one.

I purchased a used drive shaft from an automatic but its too short, do I have to find a drive shaft from a manual 3.4 only. Thats gonna be rough. Lol new OEM are 524. Rather be 100% before dropping that much on a new drive shaft. Thanks

Sorry I'm not much more help, since I also have an auto. I was not aware of a size difference. Manuals are rare... so not sure what to tell you.
 
Lol any help is help and I appreciate all the info thoughts. Helps diagnose this damn vibration I have hahaha.

If it was the diff it would not have stopped when he removed the rear shaft.

Im thinking OP is on the right track with looking for a new shaft.

Lol my thoughts as well but I did change rear diff fluid since fairly cheap and good insurance Mobil 1 75/90.

I'm shocked at how difficult it is to find a used manual trans rear driveshaft in Pa/Nj. I'm planning on trying a used drive shaft first and if vibration changes at all then culprit found then I can order a new one from, Hear good things about Tom woods drive shafts??
 
I suppose there is a chance it *could* be a bent/twisted/warped rear axle shaft, especially if it has an elocker and might have been wheeled. Could also be an internal issue with the rear diff, disassembling it might not be a bad idea. Somewhat difficult to imagine having never felt it.
 
If it stopped with drive shaft removed then that pretty much says it all..... Everything back there is sill turning/rotating weather the drive shaft is there or not. My vote goes for drive shaft .
 
sounds like my 93 4x4 pickup when I had worn U-joints.

I vote driveshaft, but wouldnt rule out rear diff... with the shaft in it transfers vibrations to the front of the vehicle, without it the rear diff vibrations will only be transferred through the suspension
 
I thought drive shaft but I had it rebalanced and u joints redone at local drive line shop. But there is always that chance it wasn't done right.
Also with rear it could be internal, vibrations only happen while torque is applied, so if drive shaft is removed rear dosnt get torque needed to cause vibration.
New manual rear drive shaft from Toyota online is about 850. I did find a somewhat local salvage yard with a drive shaft gonna take a ride and pick it up tomorrow fingers crossed. If vibration dosnt go away or change next step will be rear/diff.
 
Good news. I drove an hour an a half today and picked up the used drive shaft. Drove home greased up the beat up looking ujoints probably original and cardon joint and slip yoke.

And installed it vibration is FIXED. Just shows even if you pay a drive line shop to rebuild your drive shaft it dont mean squat. Also when I dropped my original drive shaft to be rebuilt told owner just replace everything 1 and done so I dont have to worry about it at all. This whole time scratching my head it was a bad rebuild from Pete's welding. Damn
