Video through Entune system on 2015 TE

I have a new 2015 TE. (I have searched through the threads as well)

I have read through both manuals (owners+Entune) and there are only a few one line mentions of this.
From what I read, there seems to be 2 options for playing videos on the screen.
-Plugging in some sort of video cable into the AUX port. And on the Entune there is a source selector for this.
-There is also mention of the unit accessing videos on an iPod that has been plugged in via USB. I dont think this is possible through Bluetooth but not sure.

I dont have a cable right now so I'll skip this part.
But this morning I plugged in my iPod Touch via USB cable. I selected the iPod in the Source list and there is a selection for iPod Videos(maybe labeled Video). It said that there were no Videos found on the iPod. I didnt have any movies on the iPod but there is a TV Show and a couple Music Videos. I will load a movie and see if this is accessible.
Its interesting that the manuals dont go into this, nor have there been any thorough posts on successfully viewing videos through the stock system.

The only way I've read you can do video is to play in through an SD card.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you I thought I read in on here a while back. I did find some other threads on the issue though, hope it helps. Doesn't seem easy but possible.

Movies on Entune

From what I've read, gleaned from these columns you can use the "charge" cable from the iPad or iPod as a link to Entune. Movies may be as easy as YouTube video's?
If the Entune is as sharp as Toyota suggests it is a very capable device, but as Consumers Reports comments it may just be so so.

I know that with my Entune with my TEP i can play dvd's though my head unit just have to link and enable my playback following the screen. SDcard is for NAV only. I've ocassionally had netflix going on my phone for my son and forgot about it and started the 4runner and it go to surrond sound but no picture except on the phone. I've been meanIng to do the DVD play to see how it does. I do know it wont play unless parked.

Are you saying you can insert a DVD into the factory head unit and it will play movies?

According to my manual and physical headunit options yes. It only will work when the vehicle is in park though. Ill get some pictures of it this week..

I have the Entune with navigation package. But I don't have the 15 speaker system.

Ditto, I have a '15 TE with nav / entwine and it does NOT play dvd's in park. Kinda weird I think - my 2011 Ram truck played DVDs.

So I need to re-tract my statement from earlier. After going down to take pictures I just recalled it was in the GFs Subaru. Though I SWEAR i saw this in my 4runner so I looked at it but wasn't able to find it. I apologize as I never used it but the Subaru as the Kid has a tablet he watches.

l also am interested in this. If someone has any better ideas. So far all I have for you is this cable that can do HDMI in/USB storage through Entune andadds an option to your menu. Looks promising, and very clean.

Looks like there is also a wifi option, though not sure. Although I would just hook a chrome cast to it
