VIN etched glass, still available? Muth mirrors?

Well my wife got hit in the driver side a few weeks ago. Dealership is crying about the Muth Signal Mirrors, and the factory VINetch on the side windows. They claim that the etch is not available anymore and they'd have to order a kit from vinshield.com. They also claim the signal mirrors are not factory options. I told them the mirrors were probably a port installed option hence why the don't show up on the VIN. Is this assumption right?

Also for anyone having to replace oem VIN etched glass, did you run into this problem??

No good independent body shops in your area???

I have a real nice body shop about 2 miles from my house. The local Toyota/Nissan and Honda dealer uses this body shop when they get too busy.

I thought glass etching went out with car alarms? Do you really need it? If the mirrors were port installed they would show up in the VIN. Dealer installed items probably won't if they are not Toyota parts.
