that looks really good. I don't like all the chrome on the Limited.

So far I have done the front chrome pc with the Toyota logo and the chrome pcs around the fog lights and this weekend I did the chrome pcs on the side of the truck, below the doors and the whole tailgate pc.

Next is the front and rear chrome bars on the bumpers.

Plastidip is such a great product. I'm going to do the door sill chrome and rear bumper chrome next, then see how I feel about the roof rails. I'm still on the fence about the door handles. (not sure if that would be too much blacked out trim)

So undenounced to my wife who is the primary driver of our LE, I went down to Lowe's today, picked up 2 cans of black plasti dip, blue tape, etc. I will spraying this thing this weekend, any pointers you guys can give me? I've never used this product before, thanks

Haha! I'm the one who is trying to convince my hubby that we need to plastidip the emblems. Then I realized that it's MY truck. Now I have to learn to do it myself.

The other pointer I would mention is the temperature outside. I stored my cans inside prior to dipping and in between coats would bring them back inside since the temperature was 35-40 degrees outside.

For me I used 5-6 light coats, I'm sure everyone has a different technique (light or heavy coats), this is just what worked for me.

Shake the can well
Don't spray too close (or it will drip)
Apply 5-6 light coats
10min between coats
Remove tape before the last coat dries (immediately to a minute or 2)

Give yourself a few inches around the object your spraying, makes it easier to peel it off and prevents tearing what you're trying to dip.

Question with the vinyl wrap on the door handles, does the touch feature still work to lock and unlock the doors?

My .02 cents is both material are good, and I have used both however I have set some rules for myself I guess. Large area/more flat = vinyl wrap. Small sections/very curvy = plastidip.

I did the roof on the wife's 6M GTI, some photos (sorry not 4Runner, got my flame suite on lol). The vinyl can be installed with cut through fish line which I had to use in this case since there are no rain gutters on the roof to tuck things in. This technique can be used to just do portions of body panles. The vinyl does go into the sides of the sunroof opening so no white can be seen. First time use, 4 hrs of work.

Thanks. I avoided the touch lock/unlock portion of the handles. Check out 3m's other brushed finishes. Other finishes I considered are the brushed titanium and brushed steel. Both of which also look stellar. Ultimately decided on brushed black aluminum.

I'm all for dipping. Dipped the front of my 4Runner, and have dipped every grill before her. The chrome bumpers on our Tundra and the grill were dipped also. We did those a couple years ago and it's still holding up. And she's our tow vehicle so she goes on long road trips.

Also dipped the body on our Polaris RZR...it's held up against tree and rock scrapes. There are some spots where we need to touch it up, but overall after a couple years of it being on there and over many rides...it's held up beautifully.

The beauty of plastidip is that it's easier to touch up than vinyl...and you won't :cry2: when/if you scratch it up since you can peel it off and redo it and you likely didn't spend hundreds to have it installed.

Plastidip is super easy to do yourself, mess up? Peel off and try again. There are countless tips and tutorials online.
