VIP RS3000, 98 LTD, after turning the IGN OFF, Close Driver dor b4 pressin rmt button

I could not program the remotes on my 98 ltd, then a little simple missing step and bam, all three remotes programmed and started working
BTW I had bought two of them (see link below) from ebay as backups, and one oem for the key chain

Following the instructions in the RS3000 manual

1) Turn key to ON
2) Press the reset button on the VIP ECU (mine was under driver's seat and had a little green reset button visible from the side) until "Toyota Security" red LED lights up
3) Within 5 seconds, Press the up or down button on the remote, the vehicle should chirp, headlights blink
4) Turn off the ignition
5) Press the remote button again to test....well my remotes would just make a continuous sound .....and not work from that point, and also I had to turn the key to ON again to stop the continuous beeby sound

Then today I just decided to close the driver's side door before I pressed the button 2nd time (to test), and they started working.... may be this will save someone a few minutes...cuz I must have tried 20 times

I have a 2000 Limited and the PO only had one key, I was planning on installing a remote with a bypass since a key is costing me $150. Where do i check in the truck to know if i can use a remote? I tried looking under the dash for something looking like an alarm module but no luck. any ideas ?
