I recently purchased a 2000 SR5 4wd 5spd and have been experiencing some problems with the factory VIP RS3200 system. Every so often about 60 seconds after locking the vehicle with key fob and walking away, the alarm will begin to sound unprovoked. I have checked the doors to make sure that they were completely shut which they were. Being a 15 year old vehicle, it is possible that the sensors in the system are worn.
My question is if it is possible to keep the keyless entry intact while permanently disabling the alarm system by ripping the brain out from under the seat or is it dependent on the alarm system? I have read the factory booklet on the system and it makes no mention of a valet mode option or shutting off the alarm indefinitely. I have searched T4R the best I can haven't been able to find anything related to my question, however I did find how to disable the autolock feature - awesome community here.
