Might as well put the order in now, considering it takes two weeks. You can always cancel the order, or sell it to someone else in the unlikely event that it gets bad reviews. Hopefully I'll have mine in 10 days and be able to report then. Better than waiting for the review, then the shipment...

Everything is still lookin on schedule! : )

Also, you guys will be the first in the country to get these.

Hells yeah! Will mine have serial # 0001? Just kidding, that would be sweet though.

Is everyone paying $279 from Burtman? Is this the cheapest or is there a "group discount"?

I want to get this baaaad.

I'm thinking that this is the best CAI so far. What do you think?

Great forum guys!

It's a special price and from what I'm told, noone else will be shipping these anytime soon. I'm offering at this price to get the word out.

So, $279 = "special price"?

Also, when you say "no one else will be shipping these anytime soon", - does that mean you included or will you ship sooner?

Thanks for your info.

btw, I like the products you carry on your site. Cool!

Just ordered...

I hope it gets here quick. My understanding is that it's going to take about 2weeks... Can't wait to install it!

Many thanks to Jason Burtman for all the answers.

You guys should check his site out. He's got pretty cool stuff.

Kind of an unrelated question... Is the cornfed lift kit really compatible with xreas? I heard that other kits are not compatilbe with xreas because of the shock setup.

Have a good day guys.

It's 100% compatible with xreas, and was originally designed off a xreas 4runner to being with. It will work with the stock shocks with no mods needed.

I'm not sure if this is good news, or bad news for me...

The good news is that it's compatible with my 4runner w/xreas.

The bad news is that I'm going to have to buy it now and my wife is not going to like it (<--- understatement of the year) :bash: <-- my wife

It's a no win situation.

Just say it's not compatible so I can live in peace. lol

Jason is the man. Ordered mine from him on tuesday and waiting patiently. Now if they could just back on track with the supercharger again.

I don't know much about CAI, but I keep hearing that they simply let more trash in. How much of this is true with the Volant? Also, how hard is it to re-oil the filter?

Since this thing has two inlets (one in the front, and one in the stock side location), could I put a deckplate in replace of the front location? I would love to do this so that I could later do the internal snorkel mod on the side outlet, and find a way to block it from noise when I don't need it.

If this thing really does save this much gas, and filter the same, then I'm getting it. The way I figure it, it'll actually pay for itself in less than a year with my driving.

The only thing I'd be worried about is if you drive in really dusty conditions frequently. The filter element is obviously going to filter worse than a stock filter, with the idea being that the oil will catch the fine dust, but there have been studies that prove this isn't the case. This should be obvious, since the whole purpose of an aftermarket intake is to increase air flow and reduce flow restriction.

The nice thing about the Volant is that it puts the cone element filter inside an airbox which is insulated to keep the radiant and convective engine heat from heating the intake air. It also uses the factory location in the fender from which to pull cool air. Generally, this means cleaner air. Quick blasts through a dust cloud won't make it into the fender or airbox, and even if a relevant amount does, the filter will do its job.

As for the hole in the front of the Volant box, this small hole points forward (toward the back of the passenger headlamp). I've done alot of looking in this area and have determined that a decent (not large) amount of cool air probably flows in this area. Again, unless you are driving in very dusty conditions, I don't think this is a concern. A simple way to know for sure, is to simply put some duct tape over the hole, then you know for sure that air is being pulled from the fender.

Even if you do drive in dusty conditions, but still wish to have the intake, many companies make a "sock" to put over the cone element. This sock will be much more restictive than the filter, but will filter out fine dust. The advantage of the intake system now being its flow dynamics vs. stock, and not flow restriction.

As for re-oiling, it doesn't look hard. Just unscrew the lid from the top of the box, undo the filter element and oil then put it back. Seems like a 5 minute job...

Jason,

Your 2 weeks are up. Where is my intake!!!!:D

Just kidding. I'm excited. Any idea when they are going to ship? hopefully it gets here this weekend so I can put it on before next week. Are you going to be sending out tracking #'s?

Thanks

Well all i know is that im not going to be around for like a month while that intake sits at my door step. When I finally do get home, ill install that myself and then have the new b-pads installed.
