Ive done a bit of searching changed up my keywords and did some more searching and i havent found much :cry2:
Keep in mind im a newbie when it comes to alarms so please bare with me. Ive got a 4th gen 2004 4runner limited.
My issue is with a Viper 5704 alarm I had installed on my truck. Its got the 5 button remote and pager with remote start lock/unlock and all that good stuff. It works perfectly, my only gripe is the alarm is not very loud. The stock alarm was pretty loud which was a given since it work with the trucks horn. This unit, as im sure with every other unit, has a little siren that you mount in the car for the alarm. My brother has a similar viper in his impreza and my dad has a viper alarm as well in his ford e250 and those alarms are audible when im in my house with the windows shut. With my alarm its barely audible when im in the same room with the windows open and even less with the windows closed.
Ive had the alarm installed for a few days now and didnt really think much about it. Its not a HUGE deal, im just wondering if anyone has any ideas, sugesstions, or a quick tip. I popped the hood this morning and saw the little siren was installed right behind the fuse box.
In all honestly im posting this rather quickly without taking a second look at the siren, when im off from work ill probably check it out again and maybe add some hookup wire to the siren and move it else where, im pretty technologically inclined, I installed an aftermarket headunit and speakers with little issue.
Im really just looking for confirmation and any ideas as to where I can place the siren, or should it be left where it is. My fathers siren went nuts and died after we had a huge storm here one night, apparently some water got into the siren and screwed it up lovely which is why im looking for some input or suggestions before I do anything on my own.
My first intention was to take it back the the guy that installed it for me but he closed up shop and is out of the country for 2 weeks plus as I mentioned it wasnt a HUGE deal I could live with it as it is and it doesnt seem like it would have been a huge job for me to tackle on my own.
