VSC/ABS lights on, can't shift into gear? Any help?

Ok, so i'm creating a new thread because i can't change the title of the last one...

I burnt my map light fuse and replaced that.... Now my VSC/ABS lights are on, and i can't shift out of park....

Anybody know what fuse controls this?

There are 3 big square fuse looking boxes in the fuse box, i can't for the life of me figure out how to get them out or open those things up....

I checked every other fuse and they are fine, it has to be one of those.... Please tell me i don't have to take it to a dealer!

Disconnect the battery and let that sit for awhile. In the meantime, check every fuse that could possibly be related to the VSC and Transmission. I would start there and then get more in depth with trying to diagnose your problems.

Already tried d/c'ing the battery and letting it sit for about 20 minutes, no change.

I checked every fuse, with the exception of those big square ones, are they relays? I don't know how to remove those? I'm sure it has to be one of those, i checked every other fuse in the truck.

Any help would be appreciated... Right now I have to hit the manual release to put my truck in gear.

There is a white plastic tool in the fuse box. Have you tried that? It has a large end and a small end.

Those big objects are relays. To remove them you have to pull up pretty firmly on them while wiggling them to help get it out. If you can't get it come out of park it might have something to do with your brake switch (controls the brake lights and nowadays with all things being electronic, probably the tranny park release too).

BTW, what year is your truck? Would you have any kind of warranty on it? Sounds like if this gets too complicated, it might just be worth taking it to the dealer.

There are large and small fuses in there especially in the right hand column.

These are relays, i checked all the fuses, they are fine...

The truck is a 2003. Are you absolutely positive the relays pull out? I feel like i'm going to break something i'm pulling so hard.....

Might have to take it in to the dealership.

Oops my bad I just went and looked. There is a 60 amp heater fuse in there though. Anyway good luck and let us know what you find.
