VSC TRAC and ABS Codes (Code Readers Wanted)

Replaced my shocks over the weekend and now have the VSC TRAC, VSC OFF, and ABS lights on.

Performed zero point calibration and got the following code. Have no idea on how to read it. Where do you even start and end...

I just put a spacer kit on my T4R and am getting the exact same codes. Now, I think that all you have to do is take it to your friendly, neighborhood mechanic and have him clear the codes out (assuming that you did not damage anything during your shock install) and your dash lights and codes should stay clear, even after 50 miles (SOMEBODY CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG). I'm going to get mine cleared out tomorrow and will let you know how it goes.

Majority of the time, those alerts are usually caused by a faulty gas cap. Buy a OEM gas cap from the stealership and see if that clears the lights after installing the new gas cap and disconnecting the battery for at least 10mins.
 
Never seen that before! Maybe you damaged an abs sensor wire while installing the shocks?

Take it to autozone. They read codes for free
 
If the abs/speed sensor wire that runs to the hub is damaged during installs or service, that can also explain the codes. At least a few folks on here have experienced it before and I know I've seen at least one write up on how to diagnose and fix the issue should this be what you're experiencing.

The wire may not appear appear damaged but can be broken under the insulation. Just another possibility should it not be the gas cap, etc. obviously that would be preferable!
 
Going to Autozone now to see if they can read/clear the codes. I think it's probably a ABS wire I over stretched on the left side. Saw it and was hoping for the best.
 
I got some bad news from the dealership today.

I have the same lights on plus my emergency brake light, and the dealership said that my speed sensor wires got stretched and broken when I got my spacer lift installed. Those sensors are $250 apiece.... $775 total to replace them!

And the guy that put my lift in tore one of my CV boots so that is going to be another $300.

Needless to say I'm ****ing pissed. And the dealership charged me 100 just to look at it. FML
 
I highly doubt that sequence of lights is due to a gas cap. I'm guessing it's probably a speed sensor wire, as that's really the only thing that could be damaged while doing a lift. When I ran into a similar problem though, I had a lot fewer blinking lights. I'm not sure exactly how to interpret those that you are getting, although I'm sure the answer is buried somewhere in the repair manual.

FYI [MENTION=90229]kmccrate[/MENTION], speed sensor wires can be had for around $40 plus shipping. And install is as easy as unplugging a wire and plugging a new one in. So your dealership is taking advantage of you.

I over stretched ONE of my ABS wires and got all those lights so make sure that there not taking you on a ride and selling you two for the hell of it. You can check them yourself with an ohm meter. Fixed mine for free with a bit of solder and heat shrink. Even if you want new, there really easy to replace, I wouldn't go to the dealer.
 
Wanted to provide an update. I was able to check the speed sensor/ABS wires tonight and the left wire was fine, but when I check the right wire for continuity I wasn't able to get a signal. So, hopefully I've narrowed it down to a bad right wire.

I started tearing it apart, trying to look for the break in the wire, but the insulation around it is pretty tough. Couldn't really tell where a tear might have occurred. So, think I'm just going to buy a new one and see if it solves the problem. I'm praying it does.
 
So you pulled the tires and pulled out the sensors? Let me know what you end up ordering, and from where please! Thanks, and good luck! I'm about to be doing the same thing.
 
Think I've turned this problem into 7th grade shop class. So, again, determined for a fact that the right ABS sensor wire is indeed bad. So, what did I do? I made my own.

After rigging up this guy, tested it for continuity and it's there. So, went out to the 4Runner connected the terminals, turned the key to "On" and still had the lights.

Then decided to disconnect/reconnected the battery terminals to "reset" the computer, waiting 1 minute to "really" clear the computer, then turned the key to "On" and was still getting the lights.

Would have test driven(heard you need to drive 100 yards or more for the lights to go off), but it's snowing/raining here in Omaha -- on 1 May.

 
nice! hope that works for ya. If not you can always order new wires... someone posted about it and I think it was like $40 or something.

Although if its a bad sensor youre looking at quite a bit more...

you couldnt find a break in the original wiring? the dealership told me that if the wires got pulled out of the sensor that it would require ordering a whole new wire/sensor combo. idk about that...
 
I have the same sensor lights popped on my dash. Took it to Big O for alignment, they told me my driver side ABS sensor is busted, and a replacement would be $500-$700. Googled sensors, they are $130. Just unbelievable. They know me there too, not sure why they thought they could pull a fast one. Bottom line: trust T4R.org, not your neighborhood shop unless the owner owes you some beers.
 
So, got my temperary ABS sensor wire installed and it worked like a charm. Lights were still on when I started the vehicle, but went off after driving 100 yards or so - sweet!

Could just use the one I made, but think I'll install the one I have on order -- more durable.
