walker quietflow exhaust and custom tail

Though I would share my new Eeexhuuast with everyone, the old muffler was original with 187k on the clock, and with a good sized hole the seem on the side. as for the stock tail, The flange was completed rusted. After a few months of driving around with The terrible sound I decided to go ahead and purchase the walker quiet flow ss. My intention of the replacement was to create a nice tone for the truck and still be able to dd, and actually have all of the exhaust exit behind the truck! I also had opportunity to custom bend a new tail pipe and I used an angle grinder to cut a half circle into my bumper for the tip to exit.

A buddy of mine also owed me a powder coat job, so I went ahead and took the muffler directly from amazon out the box and had it done in high temperature black for sh*t's. I figured it could at least help the muffler last longer. I have had many motorcycle exhausts done this way before as well.

As for the tail pipe. I had the local exhaust shop bend me a single 2.25" pipe from the muffler to the location that I had cut for the exhaust tip that I had planned to use. The tip I have it a MBRP, I t was surprisingly one of the few exhaust tips I could find at the local truck shops but the OD of the tip is 3.5" originally I wasn't looking for a slash cut tip but I think it fits very well with the contour of the bumper. When it came to hangers and flanges for the new tail pipe, my dad has a water jet machine available to him at work, ( future plate bumper in the works ) where he has new 1/4" flanges cut, I only had to use one hanger and it is a piece of all thread with a series of screws through one of the cross members within the chassis. The gaskets were purchased ( multiple times ) at autozone and advanced.

One more since I got it cleaned up, and a picture of the Numbers on the electric fan shroud that I have finally gotten a picture of, from a ford Zr2, I have been looking for some help as to how to wire this sucker up into my 4runner, as I have already built a full sheet metal shroud for it that I used one of my old radiators to use to mock it up on day. thanks for looking

Sound it just the way I liked, It has a great deep tone to it a idle and when it takes of the volume die down relative the the rpms but still maintains a good pitch throughout the entire power band. As for an increase in power, Behind the wheel I can say it feel a lot healthier! but I also changed my fuel filter with a wix 33319 at the same time of this project so the results of the muffler replacement itself may are probably skewed, I can obviously see better starts but will have to wait to see if fuel economy is increased at all or not. Glad to not have a obnoxious 4runner anymore!

Is the new exhaust louder than the stock exhaust?

I can only compare my exhaust to the stock 4runners that I have heard, I purchased the truck with the muffler like that, but yes I would say the walker quietflow is louder than the stock exhaust by a little bit, it has a very nice tone to it, very deep sound and it isn't what I would consider loud for a daily driver, no inside rattles from loud exhaust and it isn't loud when going through drive-thu's or banks and such. consider it just enough rumble for the daily driver.

Yeah, that sounds good the Macmod. I will get a video up tomorrow of the sound of the truck, and definitely give a better view of the exhaust itself. I'm planning on doing another notch in the bumper like this for the hitch to poke through and so it won't hang down so low in the rear of the truck.

Looks great, nice work. Very interested in the sound of this, my wifes 4runner has the cracked muffler and sounds like ass, will most likely be replacing it with this.

+1 on the Walker Quietflow. Juuust the right amount of rumble for me. Quiet for the most part.

Nice mod on the bumper
