That's pretty sad when you give your anxiously awaited vehicle to the press so they can go out and put it to the test ... and it fails. I'll stick with a 4Runner, thanks! There's nothing the Bronco could do that a 4Runner can't do anyway.

Except that I have done more 4x4 trails in an Outback than most people with overland looking 4Runners will do dirt roads.

And I am sure many of us here can take a Highlander further than most people take their Wranglers.

But in general you are right--and certainly so when it comes to "Big 3" products.

It is just very hard to like the Big 3 with their short-term oriented business models. They do have some great ideas, including the actual Bronco, but execution just remains mall quality. That, plus cost savings everywhere for a premium price.

Yeah. I do also remember Renegade Jeeps having problems with the basic functioning of their systems in MotorTrend testing or the like.

A crossover is not for hard core offroading...

Most normal people that purchase a crossover like that Kia are concerned about snow and rain. That's where their AWD systems work well -- is snow covered roads. Or roads that are not fully snow covered.

If you are going to be doing any kind of off-roading, it seems to me you'd do some research and pick a vehicle that would be appropriate to the situations that you are going to encounter most.

Agree...but if you look at the commercials and vehicle brochures, they imply that you can take such vehicles 'off road'. Some even have 'off road' mode...whatever that means...

Yeah, remember that...but that was the previous generation before DCT. Also, the vehicle wasn't exactly stock and was called out by Jeep.

A friend of mine recently got his hands on one of the Bronco Sports and he was impressed visually... since he thought it looked like a Range Rover. I didn't much care for it. After taking it for a few drives he definitely changed his mind though.
