Want to get noticed? Try this one crazy trick!

Yeah yeah.. now that you've seen past my obvious spammy title involving some new pill or creative use of a watermelon, I wanted to make mention of something I've noticed since I've owned my T4R.

If you absolutely want to get noticed by the general public (not as many chicks as you'd probably like, though, as they don't seem to care one way or the other), don't go with a lift, knobby tires, portable sun light kits on your roof rack, sliders or advanced 4WD system. None of that really matters enough to get you noticed, apparently.

What you need is a ladder.

Yup. A simple $200 ladder from somewhere like Bajaracks is all you need to get your prized ride noticed in the parking lot of your favorite Tex-Mex restaurant or hardware store. You probably don't even need the roof rack to go with it, to be honest.

I've seen more people admire the ladder than anything else about my T4R. Apparently being able to climb up on the roof of your vehicle is something to behold and is the topic of conversation amongst many a family who have strolled past my 4Runner.

The Pelfreybilt bumper on my 5th gen seems to draw a lot of attention but the snorkel on my 4th gen has really captured the attention of just about everyone. I don't think anyone even noticed my 4th gen before but I added the snorkel and I've had a bunch of folks come up and ask me about it. Some love it and some hate it but everyone only thinks it's for keeping water out of the intake, nobody sees the benefit of keeping the dust out.

That's the great thing about this forum, the chance to learn. Until I came here, I had always assumed a snorkel was just for deep water crossings.

Agreed. That's probably the most logical conclusion most people draw. It wasn't until I started watching Ronny Dahl videos that I realized 90% of the time a snorkel is used to keep dirt out of the filters rather than water crossings.
