Washing woes!

This is my first four door vehicle of any kind. What a PITA to wash this beast. Every door jamb , crack and crevice seems to need drying. Inside the rear lift gate also. The rear wiper assembly seems to store water that drips down later.
Just venting, that said, I love my 4R! :wave:

I have a Trail Edition and Crew Max, both bought new and both have been washed a couple times in 2 years and 5 years for the truck.

But get a car dryer , mine are covered in mud most of the time until it rains. When I do wash them the car dryer makes quick work of it. Plus most people do not know how to wash / dry a car anyway so the dryer is helpful to not mar the paint.
 
Yeah just googled some up, looks pretty sweet. There is quite a range of price on these. The "master blaster" has an 8 HP motor, looks small and compact and did a hell of a job in a demo vid. Can anyone comment on their experiences with these types of dryers?
 
Doesn't sound like you use it very often, but I'm guessing you prefer it to hand drying with towels.
 
Go to Detailed Image - Premium Auto Detailing and Car Care Products to find how to properly wash and dry a car without scratching or excess work.

If you have a coat of sealant or wax on the truck then the sheeting method removes almost all the water so there is very little to dry.

Get good microfiber also. Decent microfiber can be gotten at Costco.

The whole wash/dry process should take no longer than 30 min.

Look up Optimum No Rinse as well. It's great stuff especially for winter washes.

Yes I agree. This truck is much bigger than my 97 4Runner which is easy to wash compared to this one. I'm glad I didn't buy a Sequoia !!!!!
 
I also use a leaf blower to dry it so i don't mar the paint. I recently took my car in for service and specified no wash. I walk out to see the guy using a dirty towel drying it. Can't believe how much marring I have now.
 
Yeah, gonna have to say- try washing my Tundra Crewmax and you will have a nice appreciation for how small and easy the 4runner is to wash down.
 
I don't think the outside wash and dry is as time consuming as the rest. Opening the doors there are water drops all over the jambs and mixed with the bit of dust in there it's now a light mud. Washing/drying and doing the windows takes less time than the little things. I didn't realize how much water gets in thru all the cracks. I might try the leaf blower tho,(for the outside) sounds time saving.
