Yes. Apple Watch comes in Aluminum or SS. SS models have sapphire crystal. I have the original Watch with sapphire...still scratch free. I assume that you have the aluminum model which has the same glass as your iPhone.

I beat my Sapphire screened Series 1 Apple Watch into every corner and table around and not a single scratch. Same thing with my PO. The sapphire is worth it over the IonX glass if you plan to keep the watch longer than the phone upgrade cycle.

Apple will ONLY replace your current Ion glass with Ion glass. That maybe the best route for you. Check Apple website how much it is. If you have APPLE CARE, then it may be free or small copay.

My dad is a watchmaker. Studied over in Neufchatel years ago, and has been practicing ever since. And he's old school. Cutting gears and fabricating balance staffs as one offs, usually for such old and obscure timepieces most shops would never know how to fix them. Has this exposure, as well as the fact that I studied as/am currently a practicing goldsmith, helped me nailed a TA for this guy, Itay Noy, a few years back at Penland Art School, outside of Ashville, NC.

I hope someday to have one of his timepieces. His aesthetic is unique as it is, but I also have a connection, which is a big driver. Of course, someday I'll have a handcrafted timepiece that my dad scratch built, but he's gonna get the first one, so I have a bit of waiting to do.

You can go mechanical (automatic) or electronic (e.g. Apple Watch if you have iPhone or Samsung S3 if you have Samsung or Huawei Watch if Android). If mechanical, i recommend saving up money and getting a good one (Omega is a great choice if you want to stay below $5000).

I try to stick with products that would be most useful in a very short notice severe weather or other similar emergency event.
That being said, my vote goes to the Suunto Core. The only downside is that the battery only lasts about a year if you're using all the functions.
Upside, comes in handy with navigation if you don't have your phone (using compass only since this is not a gps watch).
Price is around $400.

GSAR on NATO strap. Mission proven, automatic self-winding, tough as nails, accurate, and great low-light visibility.
About the only time it goes off nowadays is when I need something fancy.
