Water temp gauge sensor

Hey guys,

If anyone's read my build thread you know that my cooling system is getting completely replaced. (Water pump, radiator, hoses, t-stat, heater core). I'm also going to install 3 gauges to keep my eye on things closer than the factory gauges.

Trans temp I'm all set - I'm splicing that into the hot line before the cooler

Oil pressure I'm all set - I'm running the sensor into a sandwich adapter

But... Where's the Best spot to splice into the hot side of the coolant? I want to monitor the actual temp rather than just the "hot-normal-cold" that the factory gauge offers

Where did you get the oil sandwich adapter from I been looking for one for my 2002 but I can't find it anywhere I have a oil temp gauge already that's where I was going to tap into for the sensor

It's a Sunpro Electrical gauge. I just need to know where to tap into so I can get a reading on the hot side of the radiator.

I've looked all over and can't find any place for it either. Maybe you could put a "T" in between the original sensor and the engine or drill and tap a hole in the head somewhere but you might have to go with an adapter that fits in the coolant hose. I don't know who makes it but there is a device that's basically a large pipe "T" consisting of a piece of pipe that has a small hole in the side for the new sensor. You cut the coolant hose, insert the new part and screw the new sensor into that. Speed shops probably have them or you could just make one out of a piece or pipe and some clamps. I wouldn't want to cut my coolant hose in two though.

Yeah there's tons of those on Amazon, but I'm not sure what mm diameter the Toyota coolant hose is:
