CBI Rear Bumper- Dual Swing Out
Installed my CBI rear this weekend with the help of some friends including [MENTION=129593]MTN4RNR[/MENTION]. Quickly figured out how useless I am while drinking Pliny. :cheers: Thankfully I didn't drink until after I cut the bumper.
I ordered the CBI with dual swing outs, the tire carrier angled vs. flat (I'm planning on mounting a Molle pack under the tire carrier), and with the tire swapped to the driver's side for additional rear visibility. The tire carrier is usually on the passenger side but usually I look over my right shoulder when backing up or checking the rear so this should give me some more visibility.
Unfortunately CBI didn't ship my bumper with some of the table hardware, so my dual tables are MIA in these pics. A quick phone call this morning and the hardware is already en route.
Excuse the crappy spare for the time being.

I've been waiting to see a dual swing bumper from Cbi (I saw one at Expo, but with so many things hapoening, I forgot most of it). I pull a trailer and wanted to see what the swingout distance was.
I also didn't realise how many 4Runner people are near by.

It's literally half the distance. I just had my single swing arm bumper swapped out to a dual swing arm for trailer purposes (I have an XVenture coming). I will say the opening and closing procedure is more complicated for sure, and you really have to get used to it or show people how to work with it.

No they don't offer a high hitch option. I did have them build mine with a second hitch, for a bike rack (it is NOT for towing), with the first/primary hitch where you see it in the photos.

Definitely dude. Need to hang out and camp again. I'm going on a small trip this weekend with some buddies and the wives but I should be free later this month if you wanna do another offroading/camping trip.

Thanks, glad to finally get it installed. I was aware that the spare might further offset with the weight of the gas tank on that side. But I figured with two fully loaded jerry cans at ~ 80lbs on the opposite end it would probably make that a moot point though. In any event I appreciate the small added visibility with the flipped tire.
Exactly what he said. This setup is awesome if you want the clearance for a trailer or simply want the smaller opening. However, keep in mind that since CBI builds their swingouts with only one latch you need to hang on to both arms when opening/closing. In retrospect I would've asked to have both arms latched separately.
The way the CBI is designed the hitch basically stays in the same position as it doesn't require modifying the frame.

Quick update on the rear swing out. I mentioned earlier that it was a pain to hold both swingouts in place when latching (otherwise it'd hit the hatch). I just confirmed with CBI that I'm missing the piece that holds one swingarm against the bumper for additional support. I'll either need to send the swingout back to them or have it re-welded and re-powdercoated locally. So far not too happy.

Ah yeah I was wondering about that. Mine uses the second hitch setup as the point that locks it against the rear bumper.
