Not a correction, as it's RHD and diesel and I don't know for sure, but the US ones with 4 headlights were 62 series from the late 80's...anyhow, cool pics and nice trip!

No regrets right now. For me a dual battery would be pointless since I figure most of my electrical needs can be addressed with only one group 31 battery. I probably saved a little bit of weight and cost as well.



There are definitely some benefits going to a dual setup (less likelihood of getting stranded, additional juice for winching, ability to do an isolated electrical setup, etc) but for my needs the single works fine.



Bang for the buck I personally would opt for the single every time, but depending on your needs this may be different.

Made quick use of the new CBI bumper after I took a retarded line and wedged the rear against a boulder. I look cool, but I'm stuck.

Nice! I've known mattjon since high school. He's been trying to get me to go out for awhile but we had a newborn so getting out has been some what impossible. I was out wheeling more in Vegas when my truck was stock. Lol

I've pretty much gotten used to it. Most of my trips lately have been camping and wheeling so it's been on more than off. In theory you want to keep your weight down as low as possible for stability but I don't really notice it. However I am a little paranoid when wheeling in the forest since I don't want to poke a branch through it lol.

AFE Pro Dry S Filter


I was tired of oiling the reusable TRD filter so I ended up dropping a AFE Pro Dry S into the TRD intake. The model number is the same as the OEM filter and drops right in.

The nice thing about this filter is that it can be cleaned/reused by vacuuming or washing, making awesome to clean after trail runs, etc. Filtration isn't as good as the OEM filter, but it is one of the best filters on the market.

ARB Twin Compressor Install

Installed the ARB Twin Compressor with the ARB 1-gal air tank using the [MENTION=125603]bandi[/MENTION] mount. The install was pretty straight forward, and mounts near the passenger side firewall. Hoses were custom fabricated with hard line and SS braided hose.

what did you think of the fitment with the lid closed? i had one on my FJ with same CAI and it didn't seem to sandwich it very well. ended up selling it because i was paranoid about dust slipping through.

It's been good so far. I was running a pretty dusty trail behind a line of rigs and cleaned it out afterwards- didn't notice any dust on top of the filter or the charcoal filter on the intake itself.

They're holding up great! I like the tread plate design: single filler piece, dimple died and welded from underneath. I had mine customized a bit with a flatter angle so they can double as side steps. I've put mine through its paces and haven't had any issues.

For Labor Day weekend, met up with a couple buddies (including [MENTION=115782]RedStripeRanger[/MENTION] and [MENTION=56922]NoOneBetter[/MENTION]) to check out some trails in the Eastern Sierras.

Total group damage for the weekend:
1 slashed tire
1 skewered tire
1 mudflap/fender flare
1 high centered truck
2 trucks almost falling off the trail

Totally worth it :guitar2:

First day, first casualty of the trip. Gashed a sidewall on the way down to Laurel Lakes

Met up with a couple friends who were saving a spot for us

Hit up a couple more trails and met up with [MENTION=56922]NoOneBetter[/MENTION] who camped near Yosemite the first night. Unfortunately the only group shot with everyone from the trip.

Took a side trail to visit the Bodie ghost town. Really interesting place- if you're in the area I'd definitely pay the $8 to check it out. Or you can drive through for free (which some in our group did since we needed to come through anyways to get to our next campsite).

Broke camp early the following morning. Unfortunately [MENTION=115782]RedStripeRanger[/MENTION] had other plans and needed to depart early.

Made quick haste up to our next viewpoint.

Ocassionally stopped to get our bearings and admire the view

Trail was pretty steep and narrow in some places. I would later slide down this cliff on the way back down :dizzy:
