weeeee's build thread

You guys in the South Bay? I live in Los Gatos, have a 99 4runner, 2007 Taco and a 1972 FJ55. I'd be down for some camping.

Wow, looks like an awesome weekend! I am definitely tagging along the next time.

I am with you on this one, looks like a great time!

For sure guys. Yeah we're all in the South Bay but LawnDart is in Portland. Next trip we can open up to more people. We got pretty lucky that we found enough spaces on Prewitt Ridge this time around. I'll make an event invite for us once we pick a date. My work schedule is jam packed until August but I'm sure there will be another trip soon.

I wanted to try to slide mine, but at nearly 5900lbs if my truck starts going sideways I'm taking part of the ridge line with me.

Agreed- I also felt a little short on power with all the gear in the back so I had to initiate with a steering flick. Not sure if that would've worked if I had all the armor like you.

Like i said, she'll slide, but with that much ass and having not seen that road we were sliding on, I didn't want to chance it. She's a big *****.

You all are making me really jealous after moving from Fremont to South FL! I miss everything but the cost of living!

I'm in Union City and would be down for a day trip. I have a 2yo and 1yo so an overnighter is out of the question until they get a little older and both fully potty trained.

Wow...that's quite the change. Cost of living is pretty high here for sure (especially since I'm right in San Jose). Hence why I decided to put off home purchasing for now and invested in a RTT hahaha

Between work and other commitments I'm unable to do any more trips until at least August, but I'm planning something with MTN4RNR to do a T4R trail run that can accommodate a lot of rigs, with an option to do a BBQ or overnight camping for those who want to stay an extra day.

I'll go to Death Valley!

I know it sounds far out but I can do something August or September- maybe a 3 day run?

THE BUILD

I started this build with the idea that it'd be just a mild expedition setup. I don't plan on doing any heavy wheeling, but most of the mods are planned around being as capable as possible while still being mild mannered and retaining factory reliability/drivability. With that in mind, don't expect anything crazy here :)

Nice Build! I really like your objective.

Yeahhhhhhhhhh....about that. I have a front bumper, rear bumper, and full skids on order so the "mild expo build" idea is about to fly out the window.

However, I've been pretty conscious about how much weight this rig has been putting on lately so everything I've been thinking about has been with weight and drivability in mind.

Adventures

I'm interested in the next adventure as well. Aug/Sept in Death Valley will probably be a little rough temp wise though. Ha.

Whoop Whoop!

I still think that a fall Oregon expedition would be pretty rad :thumb3:

Yeah too hot then. Maybe a November trip? Before the holidays?

I can squeeze something in as long as it's before November. I have a big North Rim trip planned that I'm taking some time off for. Will the temps be bearable in October?

Because Oregon > California.

I'm pretty sure all my vacation hours will be gone after we finish planning these trips. A fall Oregon trip does sound rad. Let's do it!

Do you have a dslr?
What camera settings are you using to take your pictures?
Are you editing them afterwords?

Most of the photos we shot lately were taken by my buddy since I've been driving, but we both shoot on Sony A7M2 cameras, edited in Lightroom. Lenses are either a 24-70 or 16-35.
