Weird Ooze?

The night it was bubbling, it was dry prob about 60°F, since it has dried. It seems to flake off when I scratch at it with my nail. I'm gonna leave it on because I have not had ANY drinks near cupholder since I drive my work van.

Man, just clean it off with a damp rag. There is nothing underneath or around the console that is OEM that would do that. Dozens here, including me, that have had the cover off and it's just not possible it could be anything other than what you or a passenger did.
Clean it and see.

In my experience that's usually on the headliner, but whatever floats yer boat.

I'm sure the dealer techs will have a field day with this, being so near the shifter, wink, nudge, know whut I mean?
Yah I know. I'm tempted to pull the trim out and if there is some of this shite on the underside, then at least I can get it replaced.

I hear yah. Now there is one thing; my truck was driven to dealer since I was adamant to get a '16 it was not brought on a truck. I haven't removed this piece so I trust those of you who have taken this off and seen the underside

I have no idea what latte is.

A Latte is a coffee type beverage that would be common to include milk which would result in the stained features you captured on your console and adjacent areas. Being you have (or had been) working long hours perhaps a latte (or similar) was the substance in question that produced the "ooze".

off the record..wipe that shit up and be done with it.

OK I've had the new TE for less than a week now. I saw this last week and finally got around to creating this thread. So when I noticed this weird stain (refrain from obvious jokes) on the center console it was bubbling like this was coming from underneath the trim. I work long hours so it might be a while before I get it into dealer but wanted to see if anyone else has seen this. I can already see dealer service tech calling bravo sierra so I figured I'd reach out here first. Thx yall

Assuming you didnt spill anything and this is a long shot but... check your rearview mirror. Sometimes, they leak.

Checked the rear view and nothing. What would leak from there? I took a damp microfiber and wiped it up. That seemed to do it. I'm gonna venture a guess the guy that drove it from the other dealer to my dealer prob spilled something. I just thought it was weird that it was bubbling when I did notice it. I have not had any drinks at all in cupholder since I got her last week. The night I drove her home I only did a walk around outside didn't really take a close look on the inside. I had worked 14 hours that day, plus time I spent at dealer so I probably just missed it. After that it sat for three days when I took it out for the first time on the town which is when I did see it.

Honestly, after reading the title this thread has been much tamer than I expected from this crowd.
Other titles I considered:

"Weird discharge"
"Milky substance near knob"
"White flaky stain"
So I guess it could have been worse....

So, wait. The answer to this mystery is that the dude that did the car swap for the dealer really just spilled his Venti latte, and the OP didn't notice for several days. Then the esteemed forumites opined to say that glop was dripping from the headliner or the rear-view mirror...as if that would be normal. ?

Wow. This is an interesting place. I may have to hang around for a while :thumb3:

Well I'm just guessing. I posted (serious inquiry) bc what threw me off was it was bubbling on a cool night. I don't drink coffee, lattes, etc so I would not know what that type of stain would look like let alone that it would bubble. I wish my phone had been working when I saw this but it had a cracked screen which is why the pic I posted was during the day. By then no bubbling just dry. I figured there'd be snide remarks but I was genuinely curious if anyone had seen this before. That's what I like about this forum and this group of guys and gals that if you ask something like this you're gonna get serious answers, thoughts, opinions and along with that will be
off the cuff remarks. S'all good
