Weird question - what should a barely used oil filter look like/

Most shops and even dealers install glass wall so customers can see their cars while in shop. Customer watching is nothing new. Imagine being bored to hell while waiting for service couple hours (I know most work done fast but add time with adviser, paperwork, waiting for car to actually getting into the repair bay, waiting for someone to drive it up front from the shop) it all adds up and simple oil change takes more than an hour :(. If you take pride in your work and have nothing to worry about then what is the big deal that some one who pays you watching the car? Remember they watching their "baby" and not your butt crack. Make customer happy and it'll go long way to keep your shop in business.
