Religious Exemption from Healthcare Law Overwhelmingly Passes the House… and That’s Bad
If it is wrong to force a religious person to pay money for something they disagree with, why stop at healthcare? Why should a pacifist be forced to pay taxes that support the military which kills people?
I think "thou shalt not kill" has a much stronger religious foundation than "thou shalt not use birth control".

Wow, do you really want to open this can of worms?? where to start... First obviously the U.S. Constitution guarantees freedom of religion. It also requires the federal government to "provide for a common defense", So if some pacifist wants to live in a country that doesn't need a military, good luck finding one! You'd have to be incredibly ignorant to think the U.S. doesn't need one, and one that yes sometimes needs to kill bad guys.
And the birth control issue; obviously there's a risk of this thread going nuts on such a volatile topic.
Does your "thou shalt not kill" include an unborn fetus?
I for one don't believe the government has any business forcing all of us to pay for contraception; how does that prevent illness or improve health of citizens? At what point as our national debt climbs past $17 trillion do we say we're paying for enough things?
You might as well pick something random like: for everyone that wears contact lenses for vision correction; lets tax the whole nation and give everyone that wants contacts, give it to them for free!
Or worse; everyone that can't afford a cell phone, let's give them one for free! oh wait, Obama's already doing that :frusty:

The "Obama Phone" is a myth that has been thoroughly debunked, man. I'm surprised people still believe that...well maybe not. Anyways, the program originated in the Reagan administration and officially launched in '08 in the Bush administration through TracFone.

What I think the christian fundamentalist extremists holding the republican party hostage have seemed to forget is, yes the constitution guarantees freedom of religion... Which also means freedom FROM religion!

Also, if you're a birther you should really take note about of how birth control (as well as education) reduces and is continuing to reduce the already steadily decreasing abortion rates in the US. Sadly these christian fundies object to the very things that would help their cause. Alas they continue to pound on abstinence, because that works!
Then you have actual genuine retards like Bill O'Reilly claiming bullshit like "viagara is for "health" but contraceptives are for promiscuity." But a you say, can of worms.

I've learned a long time ago when I collected my first real pay check that, this society is anything but free.
Until we have any real control over our tax dollars, we're all pretty much being forced to purchase tons of things whether we like it or not. I'm talking about actual control, and not the perceived control we have through our right to vote, lol.

I agree though Obama did not start it, it was triggered by the Telecommunications Act initiated the year Bill Clinton started his term in 1996. It's funded not by income tax but by a federally mandated universal service fee on the bill of everyone who owns a cell phone... In other words let's face it, it's another tax. The reason Obama gets grief about it is there is more widespread abuse of the program in the last 5 years, as with many free handouts.
Anyway, it's one thing to help someone out with say, heart medicine or insulin for a diabetic.... But quite another thing to buy them contraceptives... I'm afraid we'll have to disagree.
By the way, you didn't bother to address the $17 trillion + climbing debt.... Or are you one of those people that think we don't have a spending problem?
