I debated that when I bought mine a few months ago...briefly. But I ended up looking at it this way...there are no material differences from 2014 to 2015, and this way I'll always have about a year's worth of less mileage on mine when you simply look at it on paper. If you simply compare model years right now since the 2015s are about here, I have a one year old vehicle with only 3k miles on it.

I did the same calculation. Seems like the newer model year is worth only about $1000, if everything else is the same. Look at a 2010 SR5 vs. 2011 SR5, both with 50,000 miles. On KBB, the dealer trade in price for very good condition is $24,440 for the 2011 and $23,472 for the 2010. That's just one combination, but I checked a few others and the model year is worth about $1000 if you keep everything else the same (the older the cars get, the less the difference between model years). Of course, you should also consider the value of your dollar today versus future dollars, so probably if you got a 2014 for about $700-800 less than the 2015, it might be worth it. Otherwise, get the new model and get more bang for your buck when its time to sell it. I went with the 2015 just because I couldn't find a 2014 in the color I wanted.

When I purchased mine at the end of this past, March 36-37k was pretty much the cheapest I could find a base TE anywhere in NOVA. Premium's were going for 40-42.

I ended up in the Baltimore suburbs getting mine. Heck of a drive that it saved about 2K and I got exactly what I wanted.....well I wanted black, chased a few at different dealers and they all magically just got sold before I got there so I figure the Mag. grey was meant to be.

I bought my 2014 Trail Premium w/ KDSS out the door, for $41,822.

This price included... GAP insurance, remote start, block heater, roof rack cross bars, tax, tag, and title.


Mine was a dealer swap. So to get the price I got, shocked me a bit. They usually dont deal much on those. But this is my 3rd toyota from this dealership.
