west coast road trip

I live in the bay area and the lady and I are thinking of heading up the coast for a week long road trip. No agenda, no obligations, just us. Can anyone recommend some cool things to do or see along the way. Open to all sorts of activities or what not.*

Avenue of the Giants and the drive thru tree. Humboldt county is awesome for side roads and big trees. Good ol' highway 101!
They have mail boat trips just on the other side of the border to Oregon and also the sea caves are a lot of fun. Just make sure you take some pics!
