Wet Carpets

I noticed both front carpets were wet. Did I leave the sunroof open....? Did it leak? Left the car running with floor heat for a few hours seemed to do it. Then this morning driver side only slightly wet again. Car cover was ON past two days....having the sunroof drains inspected today. I went up there and water was pooled.

It may need to be replaced as the odor is present.

Suggestions on any of it?

did you recently replace your windshield by any chance? it could be the sunroof drains, are there any signs of wetness on the headliner. it would be a strange coincidence if both drains got clogged at the same time, did you park under a tree with the sunroof opened

No to both. I am however having the windshield replaced due to long existing cracks and they are going to test the drains.

I also have water coming from under fusebox , did you find a solution?

I had the same issue. I tracked it down to a plugged sunroof drain. The sunroof overflowed, dripped along the drain pipe and landed in the footwell, behind the fuse box.

The sunroof drains are one at each front corner of the sunroof, just where the wind breaker lowers into when the sunroof is closed. The holes are about 1/4" in diameter, very easy to clog.

Nightmare to fix ... had to remove the carpet and get it cleaned as it has a waterproof layer that prevents from getting at the moisture under the carpet.

It's a big job. Take out all the seats, center console, bottom half of the dash, A and B pillar covers.

While I had the carpet out, I also noticed the sound proofing tar had all cracked and separated from the chassis, so I had to replace all that too. I have some pictures if anybody is interested.

I had the windshield replace cracked for years and ran a weed eater string down both front tubes until the ran well with pressure water I hope that solves the issue. I’m going to pull drivers side carpet to make sure no mold. Got a nice car cover for the Beast as PNW tree powder I think was part of the problem. If no mold. Will have the carpets professionally cleaned and dried. I recently got a new DD Lexus 350 ES so after 14 years of travels I’m going through the results of those years from Alaska to Mexico and my Beast in ship shape. Still my best vehicle.

Also make sure the drain tube goes all the way down into the rocker panel. On one of my vehicles, the tube had shrunk in length enough that it was draining inside the footwell instead of all the way down into the rocker panel.
