Hey come on, the seat covered was why I asked if he is parting. I have first dibs. Screw all you guys.
What are your thoughts of the 5th gen coming from a 3rd gen?
I've got a 97 and am considering the upgrade to a 5th. I drove a 2011 SR5 and it was very smooth. I'd probably go Trail or Limited but that might change if I decide to build the SR5.
Most likely that will be in around 1-1.5 years though and so I am probably going to get a supercharger for the 3rd gen to tide me over for that period.

Seriously though, I'm surprised how well the roof stayed up. I've seen news stories of how the roof usually cave in on 4Runners when they roll over. And I once saw a 4Runner upside down after an accident. It's roof was completely caved in.

Hey, if toyofreak wouldn't mind selling the truck (seems like I'm the closest to him), I've been looking for a V6 donor and hopefully a 4WD donor since if it's a whole truck, it's all there.

My boys on the Socalsupras was ready to drop the entire drive train into a 82-85 Supra. Another one of my buddies wants to put it into his 1990 truck and turn it into a Pre-Runner. He already called dibs on the motor but if that sale falls through then I'll post a FS thread and list out everything that is for sale on the truck, and what I will be and won't be willing to ship. But let me figure out in about 3 weeks what is going on with the truck and I'll do a part out. Bear in mind it's a VZN180 (2WD for those who don't understand Toyota Chassis codes).
The accident happened on the surface streets in Orange County. Some lady in a 2WD Tacoma was in my blind spot, during the split second where my head check and mirror check did not reveal her. So I turned into her lane and she hit me. (You can see where the TRD exhaust is all mangled). Because the weight of the truck during the lane change was all on the driver side, the Tacoma slide underneath and picked me up, causing the turnover. Sad part is it's completely my fault, since I was in her right of way. Just me in the car. No injuries other than cuts on my left arm when the driver's side glass shattered. Since I am not claiming insurance, (no comprehensive on a 13 year old truck), there will be no salvage title attached to it. Not that it matters since the roof has already lost it's structural rigidity, I don't want it fixed. Thought about doing a body swap as well, but after the roll I see the inherent value of side curtain air bags.
I have always love Toyotas and it only made sense to replace the 4Runner with another one. I like the 5th Gen, although it too is a bit anemic so I'm going to wait for TRD to release the supercharger for it. Otherwise when the warranty runs out I'll get a FJ Cruiser Supercharger and I'll do the install myself. (Hell, I do Twin Turbo Supra swaps for ****s and giggles, how hard would this be?)
Keep on the lookout on the classifieds since I will be parting her out completely in 3 weeks. I would prefer local pickup in Socal for the large items. And once a couple of members vouch for me, I'll start sending out the smaller items. Cheers

FYI, the TRD Supercharger is the second gen one, which is the black one. I forgot to mention she also had a TRD trans cooler specifically for a the vehicle.
It's been sold to Justin (PhdNPrerunners). If the sale falls through I will let you guys know.

Wow! I had a very similar inncident with my 3rd gen about a month ago. Roll over due to driver error on the highway. It did its job in keeping me safe, walked away with only a cut on my ring finger from glass. Insurance cut me a pretty good check for a down payment on the new rig. Im now a proud new owner of a BP SR5 4wd. Ill be parting out a few things from my 3rd gen in a little bit.
