What Air Filters are you guys using?

Was thinking the other day that it might be getting time to replace the air filter in my 04 V8.

I was just wondering, what air filters is everyone using? OEM, something else?

ive tried OEM "nothin"
tired K&N "meh not oo bad but ya know nothing much but better than paper"
tried True flow "best sesult so far"
check out burtman industries

running k&n drop in replacement right now. doing my own comparison between it and the oem denso paper filter.

I've used them on all my vehicles with no issues ever. it takes a little bit to get your money out of one. in this case about 3 paper filters worth to break even which is about what... 30k miles? My gmc truck currently has 172k on the same k&n filter.

do i notice a performance increase? nothing worth mentioning really.ever so slight crisper throttle although that may just be in my head :) I am not a WOT kind of driver anyhow.
 
I use the Toyota brand. Good enough for me for the moment. If trueflow made one for the V6, I'd switch after my maintenance plan ended. Trueflow makes one for the V8 so you have that option.
 
I've heard the trueflow mentioned before, how much are they going for, don't see prices on their website.

Anyone know of a good place to get them?
 
TRD = AFE Filter

AFE = different colored gauze filter (K&N knockoff)

TrueFlow = Foam Filter. More air than stock, and about the same airflow as gauze filters, but it actually filters way more/better than any filter out there!!

TrueFlow = Only way to go.

mine is loose ... about 1cm smaller than the oem

response using "butt dyno" is better .... the mpg ... about the same ... maybe because my foot getting heavier after i cange to true flow :)

Same here! I drive a lot of different cars and I truly can tell the difference in throttle response with the true flow filter. Gas wise I will wait and see.
 
i didn't notice anything when i had a k&n drop in filter in regards to the "growl" sound, but it did give me a better throtle response.
 
Hey Jason, is there a True Flow for the 06 - 4.0 V6? If not, what would you recommend for this engine airfilter wise?

No, but there is a True Flow intake system that just came out that I have. Not on the site yet, but I have it. Email me for more info. Other than that, there is a K&N intake also for the V6, which you can see on my site.
