The evap core is buried in the area behind the center dash and is a huge job to replace. Should I replace the heater core while in there? What about anything else?
I don't really see a need to replace the heater core. Maybe it would depend on cost. I would also replace the receiver dryer and maybe the expansion valve depending on costs. If it has a lot of miles and you plan to keep it, maybe the AC compressor. I'm not sure if there is an inline filter anywhere, but, if there is, it should be replaced.
I'm no AC specialist, I just learned how to fix Ford AC systems by replacing everything in the 1990s.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think the drier might also be the inline filter.
