What all should I replace when replacing the evaporator core?

The evap core is buried in the area behind the center dash and is a huge job to replace. Should I replace the heater core while in there? What about anything else?

I don't really see a need to replace the heater core. Maybe it would depend on cost. I would also replace the receiver dryer and maybe the expansion valve depending on costs. If it has a lot of miles and you plan to keep it, maybe the AC compressor. I'm not sure if there is an inline filter anywhere, but, if there is, it should be replaced.

I'm no AC specialist, I just learned how to fix Ford AC systems by replacing everything in the 1990s.

Depending on accessibility look into the HVAC actuators, not sure how common they are to fail in Toyota’s, but it’s a good thought while you’re in there

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the drier might also be the inline filter.

Thank you for the inputs. I am mainly focusing on items behind the dash for now. One thing I took for granted was quality of heater core part. Most say to do a pressure test on them before installing as they are prone to leak. Not sure if it's the terrible design of crimped tube flange to core or the core itself.

It looks like the dryer is a desiccant pack that goes up in the bottom side of the condenser like a tampoon. It has a plug at the base that gets a new o-ring or replacement. Not sure how critical that is for function.
